It's Warley, close to Brentwood and on that junction there's a gate with free entry to a little known Essex wildlife trust run property. It's a mix of history, wildlife, especially birds and a fantastic old garden that fell to ruin, the trust just about manage to keep the wild stuff in check. Ellen Wilmott & famous horticlutarist in her time but now pretty well unknown was left a fantastic sum of money by her father & went on to financial ruin, spending it all on the gardens

There is an ornamental thistle ( eryngium I think) which is often nicknamed 'miss wilmott's ghost' apparently she was in the habit of casting it's seeds in other people's gardens without their prior knowledge or permission, where It would then establish itself to the puzzlement of the gardener.

Nice pics whisty. Since moving nearer Leeds, mrscj has shown me loads of nice places I never knew about, like the Hollies park (since Leeds made me originally want to emigrate). Driving around on holiday has shown me good places too; I'm ashamed of how little I know of the UK, which I'm trying to put right :-)

A bus puzzle to start the day

They have packets of those seeds in a little shed for people to take for a small donation, which I did but they didn't work Cool post tho
