I did own a Ford Cortina mark 1, great simple car that could easily work on yourself.

I had one of these - a Ford Cortina 1600E.

It was (allegedly) the height of cool in its day. After that it was downhill for quite a while with Volvos and Ford Granada Estates (to carry round a lot of computer gear) until I got myself a Saab 9000 Turbo.

I've never owned a car from new. Most of mine have been second hand jobs, usually bought with about 50,000 miles on the clock.

Good buddy. Nah, thought it was a bit nerdy or to mean to spend the money, can't remember. My mate plugged one into my car and we used to go round picking up on people talking. Think we was only interested in girls talking. This story has no happy ending, although Daisy seemed to make Carlos quite lively today

I was never in to it either - possibly because I couldn't hold a verbal conversation to save my life when it was in it's hey day. I'm not sure it's improved much since!
