Hello Gnomicide.

It was a lovely break thanks. Unfortunately I did over do it a couple of times when I had kind of originally wanted it to be more of a sedate affair. To top this off I went and bought some mushrooms despite me saying on here previously that I'd not take them again. They worked quite well for a few hours but then I had a few hours of feeling physically queasy. This meant that I ended up going to bed rather than going out for some drinks that night. So that was a night wasted really. All that said, it's always a lovely city to visit. We had hired a houseboat rather than using a hotel. As the houseboat had a floating pontoon area with seating it meant we could just watch the people celebrating Kings Day in their boats passing by.

I booked the flights and paid for the deposit on it last year when I was a little flush with money and also pissed up. Unfortunately I then ran out of money but the day was saved when two friends said they'd join me and my wife on the trip and pay for the whole of the remainding accommodation money outstanding - which was a fairly brutal amount of money.

So, it was a lovely place to stay but a bit of a mad thing to book up. That said I went to Amsterdam to celebrate Queens Day many years ago and we booked a nice houseboat then. That actually worked out cheaper than many of the hotels because there were about 10 of us staying on it.

wow, that one, I remember reruns in the 70s? It had Herman Munster and someone I always thought who played a cat's voice in Top Cat. So, why can't I remember what I did last year?
