Amy Lawn
Kanye West! Don't think The Twilight Sad have ever done it. Anybody know if Robyn has performed before?
ian the worm
Good point, cross him off my list! But technically, his band didn't play, so I'd uncross him if I were you.

CHRLY
I've only been going for a few years so I wouldn't know but was there any talk of him playing around the time he was scheduled to play the O2 for all those dates? Supernintendo Chalmers
I can't recall Faith No More ever playing. New album and a few shows already announced for 2015. Decent shout as an alternative Other Stage headliner

Frankly Mr Shankly
Off the top of my head I'll go with: Talking Heads Marvin Gaye Captain Beefheart & The Magic Band Prince The Velvet Underground Kate Bush The Notorious B.I.G Madonna (I don't give a shit what people say, with a greatest hits set she could own a headline slot.) ian the worm
Madonna (I don't give a shit what people say, with a greatest hits set she could own a headline slot.) I danced like a loony and set my bike lights to "strobe" when she headlined the Live Earth gig at Wembly.

Spindles
anyone with a load of hits could.... it seems to be what people want. Doesn't matter whether they're any good or not these days, just a load of songs (good or shit) that punters can sing along to It is what people want, for sure. To be fair I've ended up at gigs by bands I never liked at glastonbury and had a great time with the sing-a-long fun time atmosphere, so I can see the appeal. Madonna, Prince, George Michael, Elton John...all artists I think would go down a bomb who haven't played before. That's not without mentioning Pearl Jam, who surely have to get booked soon. CaledonianGonzo
Plus "good" / "bad" are always going to be subjective. Madonna has as good a run of pop singles as more or less anyone, ever. The Immaculate Collection is one of the best greatest hits albums ever compiled and there's enough decent stuff from more recent years (Ray of Light sort of era) to round out the set so it's not just an eighties-fest. russycarps
madonna is grim. A few catchy pop tunes in the 80s and that's it. Did she even write them? About as much depth to her music as a puddle. The best greatest hits album ever? come off it...
Mardy
Didn't Nile Rogers write them all? Anyway, one can not like her music, but there's no doubting there's a fucking huge bag of hits there and she'd go down a storm. Incidentally Russy, you're back to your usual grumpy self after I thought I detected a slight mellowing over the summer months, but I owe you a vote of thanks re The Flaming Lips. I find the idea that all music must have 'depth' very offputting. I'll take excitement over profundity most days of the week.
