I don't think a band with literally nothing lined up is going to rehearse, and do all the other crap involved in putting on a show, just to open the Other Stage.

Me neither.

But on the other hand, if they're going to be there anyway (guessing they'll be there as punters), they may as well bring guitars etc.

Not expecting it but not impossible.

Can people please stop suggesting coldplay vs alt-j (and a mixed bag elsewhere) whilst on other nights clashes galore for me... Has me excited/worried that the same line-up can be very good or pretty average for me - all depending on the scheduling

That's good, yeah. Great call on Foals opening Other - can definitely see that happening.

Overall, not enough hip-hop. Kendrick should be in the mix, at the very least.

Black Hippy = kendrick, jay rock, ab soul and schoolboy q

I think it'd be the kind of booking that would make a west holts headline slot more fun and interesting, although Kendrick by himself would also be really cool

I'm with you on this one Will, don't imagine it's a slot Foals themselves would be that into playing actually, more of a night time and lights show kind of band now, which is for the best. I imagine they'll be tucked away recording until the record is finished and them come back and play some big slots

I think it would be a smart move on foals' behalf if they did it. Get some hype going, remind people they're still around and debut some new songs.

Also, as they're possibilities to headline the festival after another album the eavii might be keen to see how the new songs translate live, get a greater idea of whether they'd be big enough to headline the festival etc.

These are probably just pointless hypotheticals. But, I don't think it'd be unfeasible for foals to open the other stage as "special guests" and I think it'd be a smart booking for the band and the festival.

I disagree, I'd say it'd be a bad booking for band and festival. If they wanted to test drive the new songs it'd be lower key intimate shows for fans rather than a huge field packed full of sober punters that have just woken up and are probably gonna look down at them being booked to headline if they're not brilliant - which is entirely possible considering their last performance on that stage.
