so? even if they were never as big there as they were in the UK, they're still below some acts who i'd say are considerably smaller by all accounts than them (or at least, what everybody expected from them)

'Below' is speculative really. Wild Beasts and Metronomy have played similar Irish venues to them and are also on the same line under those acts. So Caribou, James Blake and SBTRKT could be the second stage headliners and the aforementioned the subs, which is fitting to their status there and nobody gets carried away with Vaccines not moving up lineups.

million percent isnt Paolo unless he gets asked between now and then source: close friend of one of the brass section

He's also not been asked about Glasto too

i don't think anyone was especially expecting for Glasto, all gone quiet in terms of the new album he said he wanted out within a year of Caustic Love

well its hard to put a vibe on latitude as it has so many at so different times, like headlining you could have a chilled set by Ben Howard, but then the next minuet you could be having a rave with Shy FX in the late night sets in the woods, you know.

And in terms of relevance well thats purely subjective as the cure an glam rock band from decades ago, is not relevant to someone who is in the younger generation today, but then again for an audience which is older, of course the older bands would be more relevant and as latitude festival is so diverse in age and range, I think relevance is really not even considered.

Thats just my view, but year I get your point with snow patrol, I mean they headlined T in the Park Which is a huge festival in 2012, so I think they are still on track.

to be honest I would actually like to see the cure, as just YouTubed them and know loads of there song so , just shows you some bands and music can be timeless i suppose ! :)

Your initial post suggested you were talking about headlining: Snow Patrol are no longer big/relevant enough to do so, and would not be a good booking for the festival in terms of ticket sales, in my opinion. Basement Jaxx also are probably not big enough to headline anymore. I see them as a 6music headliner sized act, especially at Latitude where the majority of people would love nothing more than to sit on a chair infront of Elbow. (Yes I've been lots of times, I know)

Edit: Regardless of their size I still wouldn't think they'd play. Just look at past Latitude lineups.

Re: The Cure, massive crowd pleasers and would go down well (if Bob Smith is in a good mood that is!), however they have headlined Bestival and Reading/Leeds recently so I imagine Latitude's budget may not stretch far enough.

I stopped reading after you described the Cure as a 'glam rock band'.

NG as a strong rumour is making me feel a bit sick, especially if it's him instead of Portishead. It will probably mean the tickets sell out quicker as well, which is good for the festival (dependent upon the crowd) but not for me as I was going to get them next month.

I've seen Oasis a couple of times and the crowd was "boisterous" (if you were being kind) - that was at Glasto and V. Not sure what a Noel G Latitude crowd would be like.

Completely agree, thing NG would entice a very different crowd to normal. Being middle-aged and middle-class I like the current 'vibe'!
