home to you
Shes been put in DIIVs slot, rather than directly replacing Twin Shadow, strangely. Was looking forward to DIIV. Should probably listen to that new Torres album now. DIIV are playing earlier now! They've moved quite a lot of the stage times which has conveniently sorted out a couple of my clash dilemmas
bocumaroy
DIIV are playing earlier now! They've moved quite a lot of the stage times which has conveniently sorted out a couple of my clash dilemmas Just seen that. Works out well for me too. DIIV have taken the spot of Mourn, who I was kind of looking forward to (they now clash with both Les Ambassadeurs and Babes In Toyland), but DIIV are much more of a ‘must see’, so that’s fine. I quite like Torres so far so I’ll see her too. Quite excited. On the way into the arena? Yeah the search is pretty strict. How are the queues for drink (and food as a luxury, if time allows)? There’s so much I want to see, so I’ll be rushing around between stages and trying to miss as little as possible.
FloorFiller
yeah pretty happy about DIIV being moved as i'd quite like to see them! still clash central all over the rest of the lineup but i've kind of made my peace with it now (apart from one or two where i just can't decide at all)
FloorFiller
probably been asked/answered before but how long does it take to walk across the site (for instance, from the Heineken stage to Adidas Originals stage)? trying to work out clashes but i'm guessing trying to catch acts on both of those stages (e.g. start of Antony & The Johnsons and then all of Brand New) would be a bit pointless?
DaveElNino
The two main stages (Primavera and Heineken) are about a 10 minute walk from the main set of stages if it's clear. I remember last year that it got very congested around the Adidas Originals stage if there was a big act on (Cloud Nothings last year was rammed), so it be a bit pointless - though I don't know if Brand New have the same draw among a Primavera crowd as Cloud Nothings had. I remember that queues for drinks at the main stages were pretty quick moving - there's a lot of bar length there, but are more congested by the main set of stages. Al Wallace
I noticed this on the primavera site: Can I leave the festival site and get back in? Yes, if you leave before 3am you must validate your card to be able to get back into the festival on the same day. After this time you will not be allowed back in. What's the card thing about? Do they not just slap wristbands on you that allow you to come and go as you please? Also, are there any bars nearby outside the festival? I expect we might wanna pop out and chill at a bar every now and then, but if the nearest ones are far away then that's less likely to be an option Edited May 25, 2015 by Al Wallace

TheLogLady
Does anyone know if they check ID when you pick up your wristband? One of us can't make it any more, so we've passed the ticket onto a friend. I actually went in 2013 but can't remember. Initially assumed it would be fine, but read the terms and conditions just now and it's made me a bit twitchy.

Initially assumed it would be fine, but read the terms and conditions just now and it's made me a bit twitchy. I’d like to help out here, but I only picked my wristband up a few hours ago and the memory is already pretty hazy. I don’t think I had to show any ID though, so hopefully it’ll be fine for you. Someone else can probably confirm/contradict. Anyone want to be my temporary friend at some point during the festival? Think I might have underestimated how difficult it would be coming on my own without speaking a word of spanish. Difficult to make pals via the usual medium of drunk dancing, with the language barrier. Anyway, I got there just in time for Christina Rosevnvinge. She and her band were good, especially the guitarist. Loud drums. Cinerama were fun enough, but the songs aren’t as good as The Wedding Present, I guess. David Gedge is how I’d imagine my dad to be if he’d pursued a career as a Morrissey impersonator. Had some nice thai food (couldn’t figure out the queuing system for mexican) when Albert was on, then OMD were fucking great. Proper joyful scenes. bocumaroy
Panda Bear wasn’t enjoyable, to put it mildly. Don’t know what I was expecting, tbf. For people who are into that kind of ‘live’ experience it might have been really good, but not up my street at all. Left after about 20 minutes and there were a lot of people doing exactly the same. Saw most of Twerps, who were my act of the day. So lovely. Viet Cong were pretty boring. Ought were decent. Then I got quite drunk and had a big cry. How did you get on with the rest of the fest Bocumaroy? I also found some of the locals hard to approach but had a great time overall! Panda Bear was such a disappointment, no idea why they put him in the Auditorium. Could've done with his set (and that trippy video) in the early morning somewhere! Viet Cong also bored me and Twerps were good. Enjoyed Cheatahs that day too. Ought managed to win that horrible clash war for me (seen Thurston/SKM before) and I definitely didn't regret that. Thanks to FloorFiller (again) for recommending them to me I'll stop rambling now but my standout sets of the weekend were: - DFA 1979 (never really enjoyed them on record that much but they were incredible... I was buzzing hard at that point though) - Patti Smith (no explanation needed) - Sleater-Kinney, Jon Hopkins, Caribou and Fucked Up Nobody I saw disappointed (other than Panda Bear) but those ^ stood out for me Edited June 1, 2015 by TomViolence
bocumaroy
It got a lot better, thanks. That was mainly due to meeting a couple of people on the Friday and spending most of the rest of the time with them (I actually lost them after Ratatat on the Friday, and then bumped into them the next day at Mac DeMarco, which I found pretty incredible and cheered me up no end.) Because of that I actually ended up doing what I’ve never really understood, and dictated what I saw around other people, but I don’t regret it. Ride and The Stroked I actually really enjoyed. My two highlights musically were the back-to-back Ex Hex and Patti Smith. Patti’s set might be the best thing I’ve ever witnessed, can’t really put it into words. Belle & Sebastian were good, but maybe suffered a bit coming straight after those two. Saturday was the best day for me but I didn’t really see much I wanted to. Underworld were good. Then dancing to Blondie and Arcade Fire (DJ Coco) was pretty much the perfect end. With regards to the meeting people issue, it was just my own naivety really. I’m bad enough at it at the best of times, so Barcelona on my own was always going to be challenging. I wouldn’t do it again, because my entire enjoyment was dependent on two people chatting to me and then the freak coincidence of bumping into them again. Can’t complain, the great memories will outlast the terrible ones. Got really emotional when departing, and I feel sort of weary towards everything now (emotional hangover), but that's the spice of life, I guess. FloorFiller
just got back from Barcelona. loved the festival! had such a great time and saw so many brilliant acts - didn't see anybody who i'd say was bad really (although The Strokes seemed a bit 'bleh'). highlights were Run The Jewels who were just incredible and Brand New who me and my friends had such a great time jumping around and screaming to. would definitely go again if the lineup's good enough (unlike a lot of other festivals, this is all about the music - if there's nobody you like on, then you have nothing to do)
LastSeeker
Glad everyone had a good time - it's a great festival. Got back late Sunday but was too frazzled to post thoughts. After reading others comments I'm selfishly glad I didn't bother with Panda Bear and went to a cinema to watch Mad Max 4 instead (sadly I missed out on Interpol tickets for the Apolo) Highlights: Wednesday - Viet Cong, great seeing them up close in Apolo great atmosphere and the sound really hit you. Thursday - Sun Kil Moon, perfect use of Auditori only downer was it was only an hour... will have to go see him on tour for more! Friday - Damien Rice, made last minute choice to see him over B&S (saw them in Glasgow the week before and wasn't keen on the new "show" set-up) but was blown away by him. Set is on youtube. Honourable mention to Sleater-Kinney who were great fun. Saturday - el Gooners cup win ... Interpol in their element as usual - especially when the lights went out (full set) Seems like they have moved next years back a week to 2/3/4th June Edited June 3, 2015 by LastSeeker

Pulp blew them away, but they could of done that with most that day.
theimportance
Good to hear everyone had a good time! Highlights for me: -Finally getting to see OMD! They were quite good and the crowd seemed up for it. -Spiritualized and Sunn O))) on Thursday! Agreed that Panda Bear was disappointing, but I loved the Arthur Russell Instrumental set. -Pretty much all of Friday. Patti Smith was my favorite act of the festival, Sleater-Kinney sounded fantastic, finally got to hear Another Sunny Day before leaving Belle and Sebastian, late night/early morning Ratatat -I'm a big fan so I quite liked The Strokes, but Caribou was the real winner of Saturday. Underworld sounded great and a fantastic DJ set from Daphni. -And ending it all with SOAK and My Brightest Diamond and Jambinai and Thee Oh Sees at BARTS and Apollo! AdamWillingham
Finally back from Barcelona. First time at Primavera and I absolutely loved it. Stand outs for me were seeing Patti Smith, never been massively into her but have heard a handful of songs but this performance was incredible. Definitely one of the best of the weekend. Mac DeMarco was great for a sunny evening performance. Foxygen were eccentrically energetic to say the least. I know of lot of you on here will disagree with me but alt-J were great I thought. I am a big fan of theirs and they have really honed their live performance and I personally think they perform so much better in the dark with their whole light show. It is a shame they will be in broad day light at Glastonbury. Biggest disappointment was The Strokes, arrived on stage 15 minutes late? and then played with 0% effort, a waste. Overall, had a fantastic week. Glad to hear a lot of others did too. p.s. dont hate me too much for liking alt-J
FloorFiller
ah i totally forgot about Foxygen. they were fucking shite. such a mess, most of the time you couldn't even tell what songs they were playing. Mac DeMarco was absolutely brilliant. i was especially drunk at that point and when he played his Coldplay cover i started jumping around and looked like a bit of a twat. fun times. definitely hope to catch him play elsewhere soon. what a performer! home to you
Ah yes, Mac De Marco was superb and very humorous. The funny thing about the Strokes is they put 10x more effort in than they did at Reading...

Sorry, I'm saying it was much worse aha. I'm still tempted to get a cheap ticket for Hyde Park if there are any about on the day as I'd quite like to see Beck and I might miss part of Future Islands & PSB at Glasto

I was tempted to just see Beck and Future Islands. Will definitely get one if they are flogging them off for £2.50 like Arcade Fire ones last year.
