primavera festival 2015

If you stand to the side you get a very distant view, but if you want to be right in the middle of the front section, then no. I was very near the front for The National last year and missed most of Pixies. You could probably catch half of S-K and Interpol before going in if you wanted to be in the front section.

This is very unfortunate... I'll have to do some replanning around that, particuarly with Interpol and The Strokes. I was planning on getting a decent spot for the Strokes and watching Interpol from distance in the meantime.

I was in Osheaga at Canada last year, and the main stages were literally side by side, it was great. You could be saving a decent spot for one show, and have a decent side view of the other stage in the meantime. I had a great view of the Replacements, than saw Lorde from the side which was decent while saving a decent view for Arctic Monkeys (who were pretty awful, but that's another conversation...)

On the Wednesday it's just the ATP stage open at the site - and it's open entry to anyone. I went down last year for Sky Ferreira and it was great just to get a feel of the place (and to sort out the wristband / card before the festival).

Can't believe it's less than 3 weeks away. I've managed to avoid most clashes - though that might be due to having fewer "must-see" acts than I could do. Only real one is Sleater-Kinney VS The Hotelier which I'll make my mind up at the time. Looking forward to seeing a lot of acts that I've not had the chance to before - Dan Deacon, Ought, Viet Cong, Run The Jewels, New Pornographers, Julie Ruin, and tUnE-yArDs - which I rarely seem to get elsewhere.

Thanks for the response! That's too bad, looks like I'll have to make more decisions than I originally thought.

Do the front/rail of main stages fill up quickly? The only acts I really need to up close for on the main stages are Ride and The Strokes.

With the VIP section cutting out half of the main stage the front section fills up reasonably quickly. Last year our group couldn't get close after QoTSA finished for Arcade Fire. For The National it seemed to be about 30 minutes before stage time that it got busy - though the barrier spots were taken pretty much straight after the preceding act on the stage.

Can't see Sufjan appearing, not as a replacement for Twin Shadow anyway. Uh I always forget about the VIP sections, but yeah both main stages have them which is annoying. But 45 minutes sounds like enough time to go sort out a decent spot, and people are friendly there so you can probably shove past them and they won't mind haha.

Heading to the Porto festival in a couple of weeks, and have a couple of questions for anyone who has been:

- Can you bring water into the site? The T&C states that no drinks are allowed to be brought into the festival...but most European festivals I have been to let you bring in a bottle of water with the cap taken off. How stringent are the checks?

- What alcohol do they serve on site? At Rock en Seine it was only beer, which I don't like, so had to go without. Can you get vodka coke etc or is it just beer?

- What is the weather usually like? We were planning it like Benicassim, i.e. light summer clothes and vests and loose shirts, but someone said it can get quite cold...it is going to be too hot for a jacket?

Thanks,

Alex.

Oh well. Still hope Sufjan will somehow appear. He's touring, has a gap in his schedule, and Primavera advertised and sponsors his Septmeber shows in Spain. No chance of a surprise appearance?

I keep seeing Primavera tweeting about those shows and EVERY TIME I immediately think they've announced he's playing the fest :(

"The Americans Interpol will give a second concert on Thursday 28th May at 5 pm in the Sala Apolo as part of Primavera als Clubs. The band fronted by Paul Banks will warm up before their main concert in Parc del Fòrum with a performance during which they will have the opportunity to present their latest album, “El Pintor”, in venue format for a more reduced audience.

To get into this concert, it will be necessary to show the Primavera Sound full festival bracelet or the ticket if you have not exchanged it yet, as well as the reservation ticket that you can get beforehand at no additional cost. In the next few days we will publish all the information about how to get these tickets"

Nice!

Nice... how big is the Interpol venue? and how big do you think the crowd will be?

If it's an opportunity to see them at a smaller, more intimate setting, I might go. Otherwise, I might just see them at the festival...

Whichever I choose I hope they play NYC

Hi everyone!

This year is a first-time Primavera for me (Barcelona one), so I have a question similar to poster above - about food/water?

Can you bring anything with you? (And do they check if you just hid a bottle cap in your pocket?)

Is food/water pricey?

Can you go in and out during the day and are there any cheaper alternatives outside the area?

Last year they stopped me taking a bottle cap in as they saw me pocket it! I don't think they'd check too seriously.

Prices were ok, you can come and go but may have to queue to get back in. There is a big shopping centre across the road (Diagonal Mar) with the usual food outlets, there are restaurants down the road, prices were fine there too.

Also... Torres has announced a 2nd show (Saturday 30th). Good for me as I couldn't go to her Sunday show

Ben Watt has cancelled which means Swans might play even longer than originally planned (somehow)

She’s been put in DIIV’s slot, rather than directly replacing Twin Shadow, strangely. Was looking forward to DIIV. Should probably listen to that new Torres album now.
