After the non-news story of the Roses doing Glasto on the 20th anniversary of the cancellation, what odds on them doing Bestival at some point? Rob's a massive fan, natch, so I'd like to think it'll happen one year. If Reni can be arsed of course.

Still looking like Kylie and Muse for this year then? Unless Matt Bellamy was talking a load of old cobblers at the snooker and it's Kylie and Duran Duran.

Any which way, the top end of the bill is looking old person-tastic which suits me just fine. All that stuff going on at The Port and in Bollywood brings on my angina something chronic.

I think that the sort of fans the Stone Roses attract would preclude them being booked for Bestival. No one needs pints of piss landing on their head at Robin Hill.

Lollapalooza Berlin are due to announce their Sunday headliner this Monday. If it's Muse, then we've got them on the Friday, leaving Sunday free for Kylie (or whoever).

I don't think Bestival would be able to book The Stone Roses. Muse are only doing it as they want to place festivals they haven't, any other year Bestival wouldn't get close to booking them and I'd be surprised if Download had got them, the new album is certainly not sounding anywhere close to heavy enough for a Download headliner.

Have you been to see The Stone Roses since they reformed? The majority of their fans are now in their 30s-40s, I saw them at Heaton park, V festival and both days at Finsbury park - Not a pint of piss in sight where I was standing.

Real friendly us Roses fans ;-)

Cannot see them being on the Bestival bill at all though, especially not with Muse already booked as someone pointed out.

I'd be surprised if RDB hasn't st least considered getting Ride. He's a massive shoegaze fan (did a whole DJ set of it one year) and there is a sense of if he wants to get them it might have to be this year. Would presumably balance out Muse cash-wise too.

One thing is are they big enough? But he booked My Bloody Valentine years back who are similar size/cult status.

To headline? No I don't think that'd work. I see no reason why they couldn't play lower down the bill though. In fact they're around Europe at the time and there was reason to hold their announcement back so they could well be playing but as yet unannounced.

Fair enough - has it really grown that much?!

Was also thinking that MBV did also headline Primavera the year before last, which Ride did this year. (In fairness, was pretty dead for MBV though - both then and at Bestival!)

Is there not going to be a Hip Hop headliner this year? Snoop and Outkast have been my highlights of last 2 years. Would love to see Kendrick headline

there may well be, but i don't think they were trying to follow a pattern with those two bookings - they just happened to book hip hop headliners in two consecutive years. Kendrick would be fanastic, but even if he isn't there i'd hope there'd be a decent hip-hop undercard

and yeah, with Download and BST coming up i'd expect/hope we'll get an announcement in the next couple of weeks

I agree, Kendrick would be superb. I really enjoyed outlast last year, but thought Snoop was a bit of a let down year before.

Really looking forward to Boy Better Know this year, and Skepta solo.
