Bestival 2015 headline guesses

It can't be her first UK show in nine years; I saw her at Wireless in 2010.  She was on stage for about 15 minutes of her 40 minute slot.  Hopefully her Bestival appearance will be more like those 15 minutes, which were thrilling, and not so much like the other 25.

Well, nobody saw that coming. Agree that it's a brave choice. Don't think it'll do much for ticket sales, or that she can pull off a headliner spot tbh, but should be a good laugh anyway

Hope the Duran Duran thing is still incorrect. Lineup definitely needs that big act that most years have had, otherwise it seems pretty weak up top

I remember saying that bestival would try for missy elliott after the superbowl thing.

Duran Duran are definitely the Friday headliners, just confirmed to me on Twitter.

I think they could've got at least one newer artist to headline. None of the weekend headliners have released a decent record in a few years.

All in all it's not the strongest line up ever but is that really what Bestival is all about anyway?

Shame about the Muse thing  - I've been a massive fan for years but I'll take that up with Matt Bellamy as he's the only one who said it!!!!

Well the Jacksons are playing a 90 minute set before her. Reckon she'll never play as long as that

Am very much considering going Bestival again this year.

Saw Chems at Glastonbury in what was a last minute, flip of the coin decision - I thought seeing them would put an end to my desire to go to Bestival but if anything it has increased it...

Haven't really been paying attention to the lineup this year though. What is it looking like?

Duran Duran

Chemical Brothers

Missy Elliot

Do we know the subs for Friday and Saturday?

I still find the Muse as Special Guests thing odd, obviously all the evidence points to them playing including the thing Bestival keeps pasting whenever anyone asks, and Bellamy himself saying they are, but it almost seems too good to be true?

Does the general consensus seem to be that something fell through contract wise, and if so, why does that mean they're now playing the Saturday in particular? Surely that makes less sense with them in Berlin the next day? So many questions!

(I'm not really much of a Muse fan anymore but my housemate loves them so I really want them to play mainly just for him)

yeah Muse as a special guest seems really weird - their booking was one of the few things making the top of the lineup not seem particularly poor this year, so to have them, without a doubt the biggest act on the lineup, not even announced seems odd

main stage lineup is looking a little poorer than usual imo so i hope there's some treats lower down the bill (Tame Impala and Flying Lotus art a good start)

It also seems like it could be quite unsafe in terms of crowd levels if they are playing earlier than they would have? Presumably no one even near their level will be on at the same time so there'd surely be a mad rush of people going, even just to say they've seen them.

Maybe it just won't get announced at all until the day ala Libertines at Glasto?

As I've said elsewhere, I reckon Muse were booked to headline Friday, then for whatever reason realised they could only do the Saturday.  But with the Chems already announced as Saturday headliner, the only solution was to put Muse on earlier in the day, and move Duran (who originally told their fans they were playing the Saturday) up to the Friday headline slot.

But it is definitely Muse.  All the Twitter activity from Rob makes that quite clear.  No idea what they're waiting for before they actually announce them.

any chance Muse could be the 'actual' headliners, with Chemical Brothers being the 'secondary' headliner following them slightly later, as a lot of festivals have been doing recently (band taking the main slot, electronic act following them)? Muse playing at like 7.30pm just seems too weird

Are Muse even that big these days? Like amongst the average Bestival punter? Saying this from a crowd security/numbers perspective? Feel like they've fallen away into irrelevance of late.

they're not the monster they once were say eight or so years ago but they're still absolutely huge and dwarf all of this years Bestival headliners by a considerable amount. i think if word of them being the special guest spreads there could be a considerable amount of people buying tickets just for them, but not to a dangerous level or anything

I've seen Muse 26 times I believe (unless I have missed a few). In terms of a headline act, they could still headline any festival in the world and would sell out Wembley so they are still a "huge" band. There perhaps isn't the mass hysteria for tickets like there used to be (selling Wembley out in minutes) but I think that could be said for most rock bands these days. Unless you are Ed Sheeran or Take That - it just doesn't happen these days.

This could be tied in with the fact that Origin of Symmetry, Absolution and Black Holes were 3 ground breaking and amazing albums and since those heady days, although more competent than most, their music has waivered a little and been slightly less consistant.

This does not detract from the fact that as a live band, there are not many better both visually and in the way they sound.

It doesn't matter what time they play or where they play, they give it everything and we are in for a treat, especially with Annie Mac following and Chemical Brothers headlining. What a day
