These dates coincide nicely with Bestival and they did this at Glasto before:

James Murphy and 2ManyDJs have announced two dates at the Camden Roundhouse in London for their new collaborative project.

The former LCD Soundsystem frontman teamed up with the Dewaele brothers of 2ManyDJs and Soulwax in 2013 to create Despacio, an 11-foot custom-built disco soundsystem which operates exclusively with vinyl.

Speaking about his reasons for starting the project in 2013, Murphy said, "I feel like it’s taking responsibility for the opportunities that we have access to and doing the best we can, rather than just complaining in a plane in business class to each other about where we’re going to get paid to play records."

Tickets for the gigs in September 2015, on Thursday 10 and Friday 11, go on sale...

Not an obvious thread for this so I thought I'd chuck it here where it's most likely to be seen...

This may not work for everyone but FYI the Megabus/train tickets to go down on the Thurs went on sale this morning. So the ones for the Friday go on tomorrow (and so on).

I just got a single to Portsmouth from London Waterloo for £1! I know you can dodge queues etc if you book the coach, but as the coach from London is £90, this is too good to turn down really.

Good luck!

  • 2 weeks later...

I found a £16 train there and back and the ferry is £16 return. I dont get home until almost 11pm on the monday though but its worth it for such cheap travel, any other way would of been around 100

So jealous of the £2 megatrain :(

Well, the problem is that my ticket is to Portsmouth not Ryde, so I have no way of jumping the ferry queue at either end; so as to whether I'll actually get over to make said train on the way back is another matter!

However, at that price, I did blow an extra £2 on an additional Megatrain single coming back two hours later, so hopefully I won't miss both!

If you book a ticket to Ryde that still includes the ferry doesn't it?

Used to be how I travelled to the Isle but haven't done it since I've been at Uni so might have changed...

Yep couchy mentioned that on here somewhere. I tried doing it myself but for some reason it said it was completely unavailable all day so had to book the ferry separately

It does indeed. You also can skip a bit of the queue at Portsmouth as people start queueing up behind people picking up separate ferry tickets at the booth down the gangway, if you already have a ticket (your train ticket) then I just scooch round them on the right hand side. Walk along the pier & coach/buses are just on the left as you walk out. Takes 20/25mins to get to site I reckon but may be longer as I usually have a few cans on the ferry & train.

Okay, so I've got a return train to Portsmouth Harbour. Any tips on escaping the sheer hell that is the queue at either end? Like book my ferry ticket in advance? Cry?

You could risk a train ticket from Portsmouth & Southsea to Ryde Esplanade (to make sure) if you got off a stop early then get back on a train to Portsmouth Harbour? The queue looks long but not that bad, maybe 30mins to an hour.

Okay, that makes sense, my train goes through Southsea. I was more worried about the way back. Last time I went to Bestival I had to queue for something like two hours for a shuttle bus then two hours for the ferry and missed the Megatrain I'd booked back (though luckily no one checked on the train and I scooted through an open barrier at Waterloo. Didn't make for a very relaxing post fest train journey home though!).

I was more worried about the way back.

Why I have always bought open returns for festivals, no panic to get certain trains with a massive queue in front of you.

You could buy a similar ticket on the way back. Can you buy an off peak ticket at Ryde when you arrive Thursday for the Monday? Other than that, pack most of your gear up Sunday afternoon ready for a quickish gettaway early Monday morning.

Or pull an all nighter.

Edit: I normally have a lie in on Monday, leave the site late & spend the afternoon having fish & chips or Domino's & a couple of pints in Ryde. Make a day of it coming back to recover.

hows the queues to the ferry at around 3ish on monday from ryde?

Wait for coach/bus to Ryde: anywhere between 45mins to 2hours.

Wait for passenger ferry at Ryde: 30mins.

Will prob be ok around three. Not sure when the fest kicking out time is though.
