Bestival 2015 headline guesses

yeah the Main Stage especially looks really weak this year. the lineup overall isn't the best but there's still enough to keep me entertained throughout the weekend (although the Friday is overstuffed with my 'must sees', so much so that i'll unfortunately be missing a couple, and the other two days seem considerably weaker in comparison imo)

 

Missy Elliot as a headliner is such a strange one. i just don't know how that's gonna pan out

 

very glad to be going back though - i've missed it a lot the last two years i haven't been and always wished i'd gone

Yeah, it reeks of last minute to me. As a mid day act? Brilliant. As a headliner in 2015? I don't buy that.

Still, at least it's something different & hopefully she'll pull it off. It seems as though the focus on the Port over the past couple of years is stretching the budget a bit in terms of 'big' acts.

yeah in a similar slot to the one Busta was supposed to be in last year would've been spot on - hour long greatest hits set from her would've been just fantastic. but an hour and a half set as the final headliner of the weekend? strange. they're billing it as a European festival exclusive to make it seem more special, but the thing is, i don't know any people who were pining for a Missy Elliot live show to begin with

looking at setlist.fm, she seems to have only done one other show this year (the setlist of which isn't showing, and i can only find really shitty videos of it on Youtube, but from the sounds of it, she uses a lot of backing track)

yeah, even a current rising act would make a lot more sense than House Of Pain, an aged hip hop act who will only have one recognisable song to about 90% of the audience. people will be leaving in droves, unless they decide to both open and close with Jump Around

 

i thought smogo could've been mistaken and that House Of Pain were the Bollywood special guest, but it seems thats b2b with somebody and so is more than likely a DJ and not a live act

I doubt it. If he were then that would be a complete waste of time, raising some pretty serious questions about his own self-respect and worth as a human being.

Apparently Everlast did a couple of his acoustic tunes when they played at BDs a couple of weeks ago and I remember his solo album was quite good. But they're not very Very, are they?

 

I saw them at Phoenix Festival in 93; the main thing I remember was the rampant homophobia they were shouting down hecklers with. Delightful.

I know it would probably be a bit too dance orientated but Underworld headlining the Friday, Chems Saturday and Duran Duran on the Sunday with Missy playing before one of them would actually look stronger than what theyve got at the moment I think

 

(Because Jamie xx could EASILY headline the Thursday just by himself) 

 

Obviously things might have been different if Muse were never an option in the first place but yeah

Think it's dependant on your tastes really. Quite a few good hip hop and grime acts, good djs, just lacking in major bands

So I've gone from worried about not being able to get fucked for The Chemical Brothers to not seeing them at all. Ffs I can't even get on one for Underworld cause I'm on shift at 8 the next day

Yeah it's horrible. I left Hot Chip the other year, couldn't move or anything. Hopefully there will be a few more things open across site that may spread the crowds a bit (doubt it)

They do, I've got the other 2 headliners off though so hopefully there's someone desperate enough to see Missy Elliott or Duran Duran that they'll miss The Chems for it...
