Yeah... I wasn't really feeling the whole Sexwitch thing, maybe we should have gone closer to the stage.

Fab weekend though (well, week for us). Left after Courtney B because we'd heard talk of more rain today and were worried about the car park, I gather all is going ok-ish though. Looking forward to next time.

I enjoyed Sexwitch too but many of our group left before the end. Highlights for me were:

Mew

Slowdive

Rhod Gilbert doing 'Just a minute' with Greg Davies/Rob Deering/Holly Walsh/Chris Corcoran (and available here http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p030f8yj although a bit edited)

Rob Deering stand-up

Holly Walsh stand-up

Calexico in the Rough Trade tent

Songhoy Blues in the Rough Trade tent

oh, and Marcel Lucont too!

I love the top 10 game

10. Viet Cong
9. Songhoy Blues
8. Slowdive

7. Hookworms

6. Charles Bradley

5. Atomic Bomb (did bimble off for a couple of Emmy's songs tho)
4. Trust Fund
3. Father John Misty
2. Hot Chip
1. Owen Pallett

Discoveries of the weekend are Seren The Heron , Landshapes, and Deep Throat Choir (the latter being seemingly omnipresent across the weekend, at least one of them was even in Landshapes). Really loved seeing The Iron Giant in the cinema tent on Sunday morning as well.

One of the big surprises of the weekend came when we ducked into the comedy tent to avoid the rain after Slowdive. A few years ago I had been out on the piss with a mate, we were back at his house watching some telly, there was a Scottish stand-up on who was fucking weird and piss-your-pants funny. I always remembered a lot his manner and routine, but didn't remember what show it was on or what his name was, for a while I thought I'd invented it in my drunk brain and he didn't really exist. But this Saturday, after coming in to avoid the rain, I was greeted with a joke about "pyjama troos" which has taken on mythical significance in my mind across the last few years. I spent the next forty minutes being one of the only people laughing in an otherwise bemused and silent comedy tent. I now know that the guy's name is David Kay, and he's fucking brilliant.

this looks inconceivable as a list. everyone else must have been in absolutely glittering form!

We were very spoiled, I also saw Slug and Sun Ra Arkestra, and they weren't even top 10, if you can believe such a prospect.

Brilliant time.

Highlights :

Natalie Prass

Villagers

Emmy the great

Aurora

hot Chip

Sex witch

Public service broadcasting

Father John misty

St Vincent

Worth the ticket for the last three alone

Other positives :

Friendly staff

Hardly any queues

Clean and well organised

Lows:

Sex witch (Natasha) was excellent to watch but the sound at front stage was a bit rubbish (imo) still I'll buy the album as soon as it comes out

The worst low for me however is the people who insist on talking throughout. A special mention to the middle-aged git who stood behind me for the whole of Hot Chip saying loudly how crap they were, taking the piss and singing out of tune...Its a festival! There are other acts on. If you want to talk, find/make a friend and go to a bar. Or just don't come.

Rant over.

Did anyone think the no alcohol in arena was a bit more strictly enforced this year? I actually saw booze confiscated from a group while they were watching an act. Didn't see the backstory to the incident though so maybe they'd been warned,

Definitely the best festival I've been to though and looking forward to 2016 already!

We didn't get searched once and started just walking in with bags of the stuff!

I didn't notice any talkers apart from at Mew when two gobshite teen girls got to the barrier where I was half way through the set and proceeded to talk loudly to each other and constantly waved to the singer to get his attention whilst doing selfies, and then disappeared again after about four songs! Cockwombles!

Towel were a really good discovery and Landshapes in the Rough Trade tent was another highlight.

Did Stealing Sheep sing any songs at any point during their set? I got bored pretty quickly then left when I realised there were no vocal mics set up.

Other disappointments were The Antlers and pretty much all of Saturday evening - watched bits of Television, The Fall, and Slowdive, left all of them pretty quickly.

I thought Antlers felt a bit flat, never seen them before and it wasn't what I expected, not completely unenjoyable though. Television did not a lot for me, but then again I don't listen to them. Slowdive were great for me, but didn't quite hit the heights they did at Latitude last year. However they did bring out Dagger this time, which I loved.

I was really surprised by the nonexistant booze checks, stewards in general were brilliant. Took loads of booze around freely, but because of the great beers at the bars, bought more drink there than I have from any other fest before.

I've tried and failed to get into their music but had hoped seeing them live might change that but nope,

walked off seriously bored after 30-40 mins

fair enough, at least you gave them a chance.

I was really looking forward to SFA but felt the show lacked the energy of a headline slot. I don't think the weather helped as bands feed off the energy of its audience and quite a few drifted off due to the rain. It was a good show, just not great (IMO)

ah was it pissing down for them? I checked out the setlist and it looks really good (and long!). You got more songs than we did at glastonbury.

My 11 year old loved them Russy -watched all of the set from the barrier.

Congratulations on raising a splendid child!
