Lineup 2016

Nah I don't really see the point in that. They're pretty much cleared to bump Foals up so I don't know why they'd then split it with the act that played after them in 2013. Don't see why they both couldn't headline individual days instead.

I do agree Muse will probably do stadiums instead.

I don't get how Foals are straight clear to do it? Headlining Bestival doesn't make an act a headliner of a major festival imo.

C&S if anything have more chance of headlining than Foals. They subbed over them and have an arena tour under their belt already. I think Foals size is being overlooked atm. MB might want to make them headliners but I'm far from sure they can do it on their own next year. If QOTSA and Paramore didn't get outright header on their own, I see no chance with Foals.

Yup, it'll defo be out of R&L and stadium shows but I'd veer towards the latter. I'm actually thinking Flo might turn R&L down next year for the Glasto slot. It would mean Glasto waiting to get them on the new album but given where Bestival is, I don't think it'll be the same thing as if they did a major English fest instead. I don't see Glasto waiting another 3/4 years to get them.

Because Melvin Benn has been trying to force the idea of them being a future headliner down people's throats for years. Soooo boring live. Don't mind them on record

You can force what you want, if they can't sell enough tickets it ain't happening. Headlining Bestival is a world away.

They have to be announced to headline before you can make a judgement on how many tickets they sell, ya dig?

That's a silly statement really. You could use that for Jamie T, if I'm correct he's sold Ally Pally out more times than Foals and playing 3rd as well this year. Foals need something huge to get to headline status outright by next year. Hell, Imagine Dragons are even on bigger tours than Foals now.

But Foals' tour has finished and they're working on new stuff so it's no use comparing it to their last tour when they played third down is it?

That's not majorly my point. My point is they need to sell a certain amount if tickets to be considered, we'll see what they come out with 1st. I'm saying at this moment, they have nothing to merit a bump up.

Of course they have nothing to 'merit' a bump up yet because they haven't brought out an album or announced a big tour or anything. What we're predicting is that they do that, sell healthily and headline as Melvin had suggested. Even without that, Melvin has already tipped them to headline next time anyway and as you've seen this year with BMTH, acts will move up the lineup if they see the potential without massive sales.

BMTH do at least have an arena date under their belt, I'm not agreeing they could sub but without at least selling out an arena tour it won't be happening.

Biffy Clyro didn't have an arena tour prior to being booked as headliners. The arena tour came after the booking.

The arena tour was for opposites not only revolutions.

They did Glasgow, Aberdeen, Nottingham, Hull, Manchester and Plymouth on the same tour they played Wembley Arena, albeit I'm not sure what size the venues in Hull, Manchester and Plymouth are. The first 3 were definitely arenas though.

Looks like the capacities were about Hull 4000, Plymouth 4000, Manchester 12000. So mostly arenas and a couple that are about twice the size of academies.

If you're gonna participate in a thread about a festival a year and a half away, then you've got to be at least a little open to bands actually doing something in the year and a half running up to it and their statures changing. Look at this year's lineup and think about whether you'd have predicted that a year ago.

I certainly called BMTH subbing a year ago.
