OFWGKTA aren't a thing anymore? They don't really perform or release as Odd Future any more. They've mostly gone off and done their own things and I think Earl is trying to shrug that off all together on the new album.

Theyre still a collective that refers to the whole group. Earl isn't trying to escape them. They haven't released as OF in forever, they still work together. They have that festival they run in America, and they have their shops. Edited by A_Hawky

All the sub-groups of OF are far better than the collective anyway. I don't want any more bass-induced aneurysms from their live shows.

It was good that OF were a thing though. They really shook up the hip hop world. Was a bit like I imagine the Sex Pistols were. They have all grown as artists and away from it now though.

So is why people have heard of him then :P

Well no he was gushed over for a while a few years back for this R&B album-trilogy he did and I haven't heard much about him since apart from him briefly being a West Holts headliner in 2013 before cancelling.

Barely though. Plus if you look at the actual festival, Tyler and Earl both performed their own shows apart from the OFWGKTA they had on show there. I can't imagine they'll go back to releasing or touring as that.

I thought this was his popular song

Matt referred to him as having a recent hit which I assumed was the 50 Shades one. I know he's done other stuff, I was just referring to that in particular.

I couldn't think of anyone else to sub Slipknot. Deftones aren't really big enough. But if 30STM release a new album, I would expect R&L to go for them again.

Although Shikari subbing Slipknot and Deftones headlining the NME opposite Foals would be pretty cool.

Circa Waves and Wolf Alice are too big now to play those positions now, nevermind next year

also if Beartooth aren't opening the main this year I'll eat my hat.

So, when I responded to someone suggesting Odd Future sub next year by saying "they're not really a thing anymore", you were incredulous because they still have a clothing brand and a festival?

I fear my messages may have been misinterpreted, my original message was a tad OTT but that was because, originally, you made it sound like OFWGKTA, has dissolved and they haven't- they still exist, and there is still potential for them to record together. Every message since has merely been trying to say they haven't dissolved, OF still exist. I wasn't commenting on their position on the hypothetical bill. Just commenting on of As a whole.

Frank would be about 3rd down I reckon or a strong nme tent headliner but you never know the new album might have a song which might brake him into the top 20 as I'm surprised already. Songs like I still believe and recovery had UK top 20 written over it and surprised it didnt.

And you must be really out of touch if you've listened to The Weeknd and you think that's gonna go down well in a sub slot at R+L. R&B singer who just had a hit from the pissing 50 Shades movie.

R&L are probs gonna want to keep up this pattern of an rap/rnb sub I think. Who could fit that role next year?

Surely The 1975 won't be big enough for a sub slot by next year?

I wouldn't bet against it given how popular the first album was

Childish Gambino would be a decent sub. Because the Internet is a brilliant album and his latest release isn't too bad either.

I guess it's just wishful thinking more than anything with The 1975.

No why?

And if R&B is in the mixer then Sam Smith.

My ignorance regarding music that doesn't have guitars probably showed in that last post

Childish Gambino would be a decent sub.

Probs not big enough, but likely to be there lower down I reckon

Will people stop suggesting Hozier for such high slots

I know it's Ireland but somehow he is headlining Longitude. He's fairly high up at TITP/V and probs Glasto also, so I think he could easily come back to R&L in a decent slot in the next few years.

Also The Vaccines would either headline NME or sub, dependent on how well the new album is received

Probably not even sub, given the low billings they've been getting this year. I predicted them as NME headliners this year and I'll carry that across to next year
