Lineup 2016

I think Paramore as a 'worst case scenario' is a bit unfair. They earned their co-headline slot, and arguably (along with QOTSA) deserved an outright headline slot. I think it would be good for both bands to return in a few years and headline alone.

In fact Queens in 2017 would be good, they'll probably have new material, but maybe a bit soon for a return.

If we're doing predicitons.

£20 on Mark Hoppus and Travis Barker quitting Blink-182 and being replaced by Dan Adriano and Derek Grant, essentially becoming Alkaline Trio. But it's Alkaline Trio doing Blink-182 covers. A year later all the original Blink-182 members regroup to form an Alkaline Trio tribute band.

They're headlining IOW.

Rephrase that as 'Sub level for R&L/Glasto/TITP'.

As a co booking with The Prodigy they look like a decent headline booking for IoW but on their own they'd probably look weak. Unless the next album drastically outsells Turn Blue I don't think R&L will be wanting them back as headliners

I know we're predicting stuff that hasn't happened yet, so everyone's guess is as good as each others, but I'm genuinely surprised people are talking about Peace as potential headliners, I can't see them getting anywhere near that, they'd have had to have made some more progress by now even to be a slow burner. Of the bands to have broken through in the past 3/4 years only really The 1975/Royal Blood/Bastille look to me like they'll ever be headline size.

Blimey, lots to look forward to there :(

Yeah not a great picture is it :( But that was of the bands to 'have broken through in the past 3/4 years'. If I were to make that the last 10 years and add BMTH, Foals, F&TM and Frank Turner to the list it begins to look a bit better

Yeah I agree, I don't see Peace ever getting there, same for Bastille. I'd add Alt-J and Disclosure to your list though.

Well, there's nothing to really suggest there's a difference if they're not subbing at one of those this year. I could see R+L going for it in the future but I think their tour will end this year so probably not next.

I also agree about Peace but I haven't seen anyone suggest they'll headline either so I can't say I'm surprised at the level of predictions.

2016:

Florence and The Machine

Kings Of Leon

Foo Fighters

2017:

Foals

Arcade Fire

Kasabian

Slipknot for KOL

Royal Blood or Biffy for Arcade Fire

And yeah I think that's right

Don't think Arcade Fire would get a positive reception at R&L anymore so will probably stick to IoW/BST & maybe Latitude. As for KOL I think they'll be off the festivals circuit all together when they next come to the UK, a Hyde Park gig and a few arena dates I reckon.

Catfish & The Bottlemen have the potential to be future headliners; but I reckon they'll crash and burn in all honesty.

It is hard to tell at this stage whether they'll end up being a Twang or an Arctic Monkeys (In terms of size NOT quality). In all honesty I can see their fan base sticking around for the long term

I think Catfish will do what The Vaccines, Courteeners, The Wombats etc etc etc have done and gain a huge following of the success of their first album; and that fanbase will remain loyal but they won't really grow much bigger in the future.
