Catfish are huge, I'm sure they could sub and headlining isn't that far off, although it'd have to be next album because they're not headlining R+L and subbing Ynot or whatever on the same album.

Royal Blood's album is gonna be huge whatever happens. Their debut album sold almost double the amount of copies in the first week of any of this years headliners' most recent records. I imagine they're already booked under the assumption the next one will be at least half as successful.

Yeah yeah sorry, Thirds album! The Ride is actually quite good, it's grown on me!

I think their sound throughout every track on both albums is nearly identical, I sometimes can't tell what a song name is by listening to 90% of the track from the first and second album (I need to listen out for a certain word to then say 'OH THATS TYRANTS').

Although, I've seen them live twice and they are fantastic live, the atmosphere is on another level.

Yeah that's not a bad shout. We'll soon find out though!

New album went to number 1 as well. I don't think it matters how many times, Twin Atlantic record is pretty silly now, Bloc Party were and Frank Turner needs no mention lol....there is probably others too. At this time in the festival scene, a band will be booked if they are a decent option that will sell many tickets and this band will.

A few years ago I would argue for them being 3rd down/NME headliner but not now. I think the thing to see with The 1975 is though that they seem this year to have accepted lower slots to play more festivals (bit shorter set, maybe as they wanted to), rather than just a couple and higher slots. It probably explains why they headlined Radio 1 Stage at T as that is basically their option that far up north.

Yes! They are unbelievable live. The reason I want to see them again at reading is because nothing compares to a festival set. They were by far the best set last year (for me). Would be unbelievable to see them back in that tent!

Yeah to be honest I'd rather see catfish in a headline slot in the NME tent. Tent atmosphere is always(ish) better than main stage atmosphere. And if last year was to go off itd be one hell of a set!

If this is of any significance. Catfish on Twitter have unliked the tweet that they originally liked about them playing a secret set at reading. Don't know what this means. Maybe unliked it because didn't want to fall people, or they've been asked to unlike by reading and Leeds? I don't know. What's your thoughts.

I agree, that's one reason why I try to wait it out for gigs indoor I want rather than overspend on a day and further travel for maybe 3 bands with some others than I'll pretend I fancy seeing haha

I take you're going to either reading or Leeds?

No mate, not for me. Only about 5 acts on the whole bill I would bother with and I am seeing one of those the same weekend elsewhere.

Oh fair play. Yeah to be honest it's not an ideal line up. But went last year for first time and had to come back this year just cause it was so good, and all my mates are going again. Not overly excited for line up, nonetheless should still be sick! Enjoy your gig!

I will thanks, and you. I did it for 7 years but it started going downhill for me about 5 years ago, 1 day last year I liked and thought overall it wasn't bad but average setlists made it not a regret, this is the worst I have seen since I have known of the fest though comfortably for me.

Yes same for me. I like foals, they're very good. But they're no kings of Leon/Foo Fighters sort of band. If the Friday headliners were replaced with a band of that stature, it could arguably be the best set of reading headliners to date. But that's not to say the rest of the line up isn't great, because it's pretty poor.

KOL from old, KOL post Reading 09 was shit tbh and while I like Foo's, Sonic Highways was awful compared to Wasting Light. I don't think my Foals view needs giving lol.  The let down with Biffy is that it'll be a shorter set.....but the new album is shite so if you can't produce the good on album you shouldn't be given a headline set to back it up.

Jesus Christ, I thought the Glasto forum was bad wanting Nick Cave or Radiohead there every year. KOL lost it years ago, thank fuck Foals are no KOL sort of band ! Foals deserve the leg up to headliner, by far the best live band in this country atm,  and anyone who doesn't see it as deserved and wants the same recycled cycle of headliners every few years is very foolish IMO.

Not my thing, but thanks, anyway the point was that Foals deserve to headline, they should have headlined Glasto as well instead of Muse. The recycling of the same bands every few years is what will stagnate and eventually cause the downfall of festivals, festivals have to be brave enough sometimes to give bands a first time crack at headlining.
