Lineup 2016

That's moving up the bill, that doesn't make them up and coming, that just means a band grows. And in fairness, up and coming is generally more a newer act to be fair.

Last year was just a joke as I've said with Macklemore and Bugg given subs but Vampire Weekend did comfortably have an arena tour under their belt, you might struggle to find that thing year. 15 years ago, economy was very different, acts didn't cost as much, the government has fucked our whole financial system in that time. I find find it hard you using that to justify anything with prices and booking etc. That's like saying you could pay £2 to stand in the end at a football ground years ago. The fact is, finance went to shit, it's not going to cost you £30 less to buy a ticket and get the same standard of billing that you might do in a general situation as it would £30 more. Considering Leeds never sells out, I'd say an increase in day tickets isn't goign to go down badly.

I wasn't using that to justify the prices; I was using it to deride your belief that a weaker calibre of acts is booked with lower day ticket prices. In fact you just said last year was a joke and that cost more so even you must see what a dumb argument you're putting forward. I have just said (probably) why they dropped the day ticket prices but you seem to have skipped over it.

That could apply to The Courteeners. They seem to have had a surge in popularity over the past 2-3 years.

Yeah you could apply it to a lot of bands really, it's just pointing out that it's basically the same as growth. Not sure why you couldn't be up and coming just because you're not a new act. Though I think Courteeners may have hit their peak and will stick around 3rd main/headline NME size for a bit and then drop back down the lineup.

Have they? I see they're doing bigger venues in Manchester, but what about in every other sense? Doesn't seem to have gone much different than usual.

This page is awful, truly lowest moment stuff here

Just to make it worse i'm gonna make the worst possible lineup prediction of all time. Prepare for the most harrowing / realistic one yet.

Florence + The Machine

Rudimental

Two Door Cinema Club

Courteeners

NME: Enter Shikari, Clean Bandit

Muse

Imagine Dragons

Hozier

Interpol

NME: JACK U (closing set), The Vaccines

Foals

The 1975

Lana Del Rey

Bombay Bicycle Club (on a vaccines style decline).

NME: The Weeknd,

This was part done in jest by the way.

Well the subs are obviously shit but it's a far better set of headliners than the dreary ones doing it this year.

Well it does help if you like Metallica and The Libertines

I think the next time Enter Shikari play, it's main stage, and it's pretty high. I can't see them playing in the tent for a very long time.

But headlining the NME would be pretty good for them anyway

I can see them headlining the tent as a sort of side-step to where they last played but I certainly can't see them moving up any higher. What makes you think they will?

I've had a feeling for a while that they could take a pretty big spot at Reading and Leeds. Not sure they'd ever get higher than sub, but I think they'd be a success in that slot.

Were you there when he posted a prediction and said "I'd appreciate compliments"?

I was probably there but I don't remember it. I imagine there were lots.

Before they were announced last year I thought they'd probably take a year off (as they said) and sub this year but it seems their ascent has stopped and they are stuck alternating between 4th down on R+L main stage and Download

Imagine Dragons were shite this weekend. Sub confirmed.

I was thinking they looked like a far better live band on this tour after watching a show they did in Chile, but can't help but agree with this. They were shocking.

I'd willing to put it out there that a headliner next year for Reading won't be The Prodigy. I don't think they've got enough in that tour for it.

If they sell well I don't see any reason for them not to do it though, however I don't think they will but they could be a possibility. More proven to sell tours well than The Black Keys or Foals.

The fact there isn't an O2 or MEN and they've chosen the smaller one's makes me question it. I think they needed that personally. The dates aren't anything more than what The Black Keys did last time, in fact the tour The Black Keys had to cancel due to a band members injury featured all of MEN, LG and O2. Foals aren't even on a level to include in any of this yet.
