Lineup 2016

Kasabian, Too Fighters and Florence or Blur would be my guess for next year, although Kasabian could change, not overly sure on that.

YMAS won't sub next year I don't think unless they complete their next album rather fast and the first single is received well, then they'll sub. If BMTH sub this year then I think YMAS are a very possible future sub as they have similar audiences and the festival are big fans of YMAS anyway.

I had YMAS down as subbing Foos for this year but I thought if BMTH were to headline Download which seems probable at this point then YMAS would make a suitable sub for them and they ain't gonna sub both so I notched The 1975 up a spot and stuck Catfish in 3rd.

Hang on. You can't spend months banging on about the size of bands' tours and then when The Vaccines have a pretty big tour (bigger than some recent subs) then reckon Vaccines will sub NME.

The thing is though, their tour wasn't big. They only played a little bigger venue's in places that most likely don't really have smaller one's. You can't really pin it on NME when I have said 4th main being more likely lol.

One I'm in most agreement with yet. Few things, I'd have a three way swap between Chvrches/Don Broco/Frank Turner. Also I think YMAS are more likely than Deftones, otherwise yeah I'd go with that. Maybe someone like Clean Bandit instead of Editors unfortunately also.

Edit: Oh and Flo over Foals imo

I really don't see Major Lazer being thrown into an NME closing slot. They'd headline it at the very least.

Yeah I think headlining would be more likely than a closing set, I just had 4/5 acts I thought could be NME headliners so that was the easiest way to fit them all in.

ye, that was what I was getting at :)

Just that it's difficult to predict who's gonna be massive by next august, After getting a pretty significant boost in popularity. He has a new album out the end of this year with some pretty big collabs. He's far from a pop artist if that's any consolation, think he'd go down well in an R&L crowd.

I don't think you'd be majorly out if you predicted them to sub, but I do think that 4th main stage is far more likely.

I think people are under estimating the vaccines. There doing a fairly large tour in November. Venue sizes for vaccines I'd expect from frank turner, day to remember, bring me the horizon etc.

Whilst what dental said about their fest positions not dropping too much, they have now gone from 3rd on Pyramid to 4th on Other at Glastonbury, alongside Clean Bandit and Future Islands, and below Courteeners, The Maccabees and Belle and Sebastian.

Obviously it's a different festival, but if they're being given a lower billing there than The Maccabees, I doubt they'd get higher than The Maccabees at Leeds. Although saying that, Maccabees could probably have played 3rd down at R&L if there weren't other acts available.

Basically I'm saying Vaccines 4th down probably isn't underestimating them.

I said that before the Glastonbury lineup was released, though it's still not like they're plummeting like White Lies did. I agree they could be 4th but NME headline would be a little bit of a drop and still a decent slot for them.

What I was mainly pointing out was that Gazza said they could sub NME because of their festival slots while disregarding their tour being quite big and including some arenas, whereas he said Foals couldn't headline because they hadn't done arenas, despite headlining Latitude and Bestival.
