CHVRCHES seem a good bet for NME headline with the new album coming out in September

 

They subbed it last year. Would think 4th down main or something as they'll be moving onto the big outdoor stages everywhere.

That lineup certainly would be a big improvement from previous years

It has to be Leeds & Reading Fest itself that's put people off from attending. The two Foo Fighters Milton Keynes shows sell out in under an hour, i'm sure if Leeds & Reading Fest booked the same undercard (Iggy Pop) etc and had other stages on with music it wouldn't be sold out now even with the day tickets at a similar price now. So the question is what has gone wrong?

Hmm, remember there is a big difference between a gig and a festival.

Yes I think some people will be put off by having to go to a festival. It's unlikely to even be a modern concern as there will have been times when day tickets were as much as a big gig but don't sell out as quick as the headliners' big gigs would.

But the day tickets don't sell out and i'm sure they are a very similar price too.

 

Tickets were £55 and Leeds is around £60 this year? (might not be correct).

Leeds 2014 day tickets - £92.50 excluding booking fees

As JAN and Matt have said; it's a festival and people may be put off and/or prefer the atmosphere of a gig - you only have to go onto a band's own forum to see the opinions of bigger fans towards festival slots. Secondly most festivals put the day tickets on sale later than weekend tickets to coerce people into buying the bigger product and the tickets are a higher price in a shittier location so, again, less appealing.
