I wrote a load of stuff out but then deleted it, cus I just hate getting into things on here these days.

But I'll just say Sonisphere isn't happening next year. They just can't get the headliners. Again.

Doesn't matter what their overseas market does, Live Nation has first dibs on headliners, can offer more from working with them in the first place, more money, bigger crowds and most importantly a secure booking as Download will go ahead and I've seen the headliners, Download will be going ahead.

Cheers for the info lucky man, you don't have to post. Is there anyone spoke about you can at least rule out as headliners?, I'm not expecting you to give away who they are although I'm very much in the Maiden for Download crowd now.

...and yet in the last week at least 2 smaller bands have stated that they've been booked for Sonisphere.

As far as can't get the headliners goes, they had 1 booked last year for 2015 and if it wasn't for circumstances would have had another, they were also deep in negotiations with another but it fell through at the last minute and they cancelled. How do you know that those headliners haven't been offered slots for next years event?

In what way do Livenation have first dibs on bands, if that's the case why have they lost out on so many occasions to other festival when they've been after certain bands? I'm sorry, but that is just bull, the only bands they could have first dibs on are those that they already represent.

Of course it matter what their overseas market does, it all impacts on them, they've said in the past that a successful leg of the tour will support one which isn't doing so well, didn't AC say this week that having Download in Paris will be good for Donington as they can appeal to more bands.

If you've seen the headliners, why not share them, it's not as if you work for LN. Or will you share them on the day of the first announcement.

In fairness, Download represent a lot of bands and due the narrower selection, the repetitive bookings (which given the reason before is probably a lot of reason why they need to do it) and the fact that it always goes ahead even if the numbers are a fair bit lower than expected probably does hold them in a fairly good position to get picked over an event that could easily flop. Even on a year when Soni didn't run, Download could only do as good as booking KISS to headline and Slipknot again with the same band opposite as the time before they played. I can only think the reasons for this is due to who is around.

That doesn't mean it's on at all. When they can't get headliners and the festival gets shitcanned again those smaller bands will be cancelled, like they would have been this year.

That sounds exactly like they couldn't get headliners. Close but no cigar is still no cigar.

Because Download is a far more reliable and respectable option than Soni. If it wasn't then Soni would be able to tie up the acts they have in Europe to the UK festival rather than them playing Download instead.

Thanks for repeating what I said mtourette, only joking btw.

metalicbear is a bit of a Soni fan boy tbf, not that I hold that against him.

I'd expect a classic rock headliner to be there myself.

They are wilting out a bit though with the options. To be fair 2012 and 13 didn't have one and when they do it's usually a repeated KISS, Aerosmith or Def Leppard. Considering they've just had KISS, they had Aerosmith last year and even with FNM who aren't headliner there anymore they also had this year. So unless you're going back to Def Leppard there may not be an option.

If there is any chance of it at all, I'd expect Andy to be fully going to for GNR for 17. They'd have no problems getting away with BMTH then, and Metallica will probably be back then as well.

There's a few bands of that ilk they could go after again.

AC/DC, bon jovi, Rush, deep purple etc. plus you're right to never rule out def leppard haha

AC/DC I didn't include as it's a rarer one. Deep Purple wouldn't headline but won't accept less and I imagine they'd have had Rush by now if the band cared to play. Bon Jovi yes but not pushing out anything worthy of note now. Bon Jovi vs SOAD/BMTH, even I think they'd go for BMTH. Bon Jovi doesn't sell tickets like he did 3/4 years ago now.

All fair points, but any would be preferable personally than another metulz repeat headliner.

At least SOAD would have been 5 years ago though. In fairness, none of the rock headliners are doing anything worth of note and if Download did get AC/DC again, fair enough they'd use the festival's own stage as they did at Coachella as far as I'm aware but I'd guess for these terms they'd charge that much it'd still affect the bill, and if I'm honest, I'm not that bothered about a AC/DC show. I'd Watch it at Glasto but only because I was there, I wouldn't pay for Download for example because it was them.

I don't post up leaked info anymore, plenty of people can back me up that I get the right headliners every year though. I've been asked not to post up information anymore, so I don't, that's called respect. Anyone who I talk to fairly often has gotten information from me year after year, but they don't come on here shouting about it either, that again is respect. I've nothing to gain from being mr I know everything on here, im not doing that, Im just having a chat on here about festivals in general and if I post Soni isn't happen, its not to brag or whatever, its so people can plan their summers in advance more easily.

That being said, at any point Soni can pull some headliners out the bag, some act can decide they wanna play and it goes ahead, but look at this year, this group owning Soni now, Muse and KISS played their fests rest of Europe but here they played Download. It means nothing what happens abroad. How can you even argue that when that right there is proof. Otherwise KISS and Muse would have played Soni this year and Download wouldn't have had them.

Rammstein is the only coop Soni has ever got. Andy was after them for years and Soni got there first in being the festival to host them, but it was also the year that he had booked TCV, Rage and Aerosmith as headliners and THEN AC/DC become avaliable so he booked them also, THEN Rammstein decided they wanted to play and thus Soni got them.

This could happen again next year, although at this point Rammstein have been asked and they've said no they don't want to come over but it could happen with another band(s), I think whatever will happen it will be a while yet until Soni say this is the cut off point we will stop trying, because thats bad business. But at the moment, there's no plans for Sonisphere to take place next year.
