Thanks for all that advice-We would all love to see James-I would need Thurs tickets for all of my party (3 teens plus myself). At the moment I have 2 adult tickets and one 11-15 one. Just waiting for another 11-15 to come up on twickets.

The truth of it is I have a camper so gawd knows what kind of reaction that'll cause! I don't have a camper ticket (still fishing around for one of those but they are going for insane money on fleabay!) I am planning to bring a tent and camp onsite from Friday but thought we would stay in van on Thurs eve either down the road somewhere or in carpark if they don't mind that.

Al - dont know where youre driving from but as Ram says there is a caravan park just 2 miles north - we're doing the same (when he told me he was doing it!) but we're coming from the south and staying at tebay services caravan park - its 12 miles south of the festival.  You wont be allowed to sleep in the car parks.

What time do we reckon Thursday music will start? 5-6? I'm hoping its around then as we're planning on getting there at lunchtime so a few hours just chilling (like at Glastonbury) before the music sounds amazing. I love the first day of a festival, like a little holiday before the music begins - just sitting around eating nice food and drinking beer.

Plenty of places to park up over night round and about!

Do you want to be extremely close, or somewhere monumentally stunning that's about 4 miles away?

Stunning/ Secluded.

Yeah I kinda figured we wouldn't get away with sleeping in car park lol!

Stunning/Secluded looks amazing-was just looking to be within striking distance for Fri AM so 4 miles is poifect!

What sort of time should I be aiming to be at the site do you think? I don't mind getting up early. Prefer to get pitched and done :)

Hi, I'm coming from Australia. 1st time at KC. Am staying a few miles offsite at a BnB in Clifton and am cycling to and from the Festival site each day. Are there any issues with such a plan? Many places to lockup bikes? Any issues with people taking bolt cutters to locks and stealing said bikes? Any advice would be brilliant. Cheers, Bristle.

*Festivals out here in Aus release timetables weeks in advance. Any danger KC can release theirs! :)

This will be my first Kendal Calling, always fancied going but never got around to getting tickets. There are 8 of us coming, in 4 different tents and we'll be arriving Friday morning. Any advice as to what would be a good or bad time to arrive? And which field might be best for us to get camped relatively near together? Quiet(ish) camping would be preferable.

I've been to Glastonbury a fair few times and always arrive early on the first day so it'll be strange arriving at a festival that's already underway!

Thanks in advance :)

Hi, personally I normally turn up between 9-10.30 on friday and have walked straight in. One year I turned up around dinnertime (think it was about 12-12.30) and it was absolutely mobbed and took us nearly 2 hrs to get it. I would suggest either aim to get in early or come later on (it tends to get quiet again after 3ish).

I can only speak for the last few years but I can't see you having a problem camping together in quiet camping no matter what time you arrive. main camping tends to get busy by tea time friday but from what I saw quiet camping was; well, quiet, all weekend.

Thank you, that's really helpful. We were thinking of arriving for 10ish so that's great. Sorry if this sounds like a bit of a stupid question but which is quiet camping and which is main?

quote Ramragon on 19th

Looking at the map the shires probably just as good as family and a bit closer. It's for people who want to enjoy themselves without the madness

Me & daughter will be pitching up in The Shire, hoping it's quiet

All the party people tend to camp as near to the entrance as they can

I think you'd be unlucky to have the stolen of they were locked up!

Security would probably recommend somewhere to lock them up, but i'm unsure where!

You'd imagine with the festival promoting everything green they should be able to accommodate a bicycle.

One thing I would suggest, if your planning to stay off site I'd ask them about a pass out of the festival so you can come and go.

Apologies if this has been mentioned, had a quick look and couldn't find it anywhere...

Has anyone ever used the Club Class showers? Considering making the effort as we're going for the Thursday this year and a half-decent shower would be just the ticket if the weather is close to last year's (which it won't be, obviously), but I've read mixed reviews.

On the subject of camping areas, the last two years we've been pretty much in the centre of the Entrance flag and the Great Holmes one just to the left of it on the map and it's been ideal: it seems to be one of the few places in the campsite that's well lit, toilets are close by and it's been a decent mix of ages meaning it's not quiet but not wild either which seems to suit the criteria of a lot of the folk asking on here :imsohappy: By coincidence, we actually ended up almost literally in the exact same spot as the year before, as it happens!

A load of my pals were down in the bottom corner of the Wolf Woods last year, we spent most of our time with them and it seemed a bti dodgy, to be honest. It was really dark and you couldn't see anyone or anything on your way from there to the arena and back once the sun went down..they got their sleeping bags swiped on the Sunday night, so would probably recommend avoiding there!

Hey guys sorry for crashing in (and sorry if this has been answered elsewhere!). Heading to Kendal for the first time and driving down from Scotland on the Friday morning... Just wondering what sort of time the bands start at on the Fri?

if i recall main stage/calling out 3ish (main stage maybe even later) and some of the smaller stages an hour or 2 before. Because we stay on the thursday though it always seems like the longest wait of the whole weekend for the arena gates to open at 12

That's great. Thanks for the quick reply :) I'm still recovering from a terrible day at TITP where (amongst many other issues) we missed the first bands because they opened the gates late and we had to queue for ages. Don't want a repeat performance at Kendal so figure we'll try to be really organised and give ourselves plenty of time to get in and settled :)
