Final Dance Stage Headliner

Recommended Posts

Who do we all think the 3rd dance stage headliner is gonna be?

I've had an idea, a massive long shot but one that could work nonetheless. Could it possibly be Reverend & the Makers, I know they're doing V and a bit different from the rest of the acts on there but I feel it could work

  • Them being announced for V shows they're doing festivals this year and could explain their delayed announcement
  • Hannah Wants is doing both festivals so Reverend could
  • They would contrast nicely with the Rebel Sounds crowd
  • They'd appeal to the 'indie lads' crowd
  • I reckon the dance stage will close early on DeadMau5 night, would they do the same for 2 nights in a row?
  • The new dance stage has had 1 or 2 more indie bookings each year (Jagwar Ma/Is Tropical 2013 and Klaxons last year) and there's been no sign of that this year, could Reverend fill this gap

That's like Kasabian headlining Creamfields.

Would you say? Reverend have become much more dance based now and Kasabian at Cream was in the indie boom years. Not a perfect fit for the dance stage crowds I know but with the NME being more dance orientated than ever, I think there's a chance it might not just be another Wilkinson type booking.

I was just making a joke really. I haven't listened to Reverend and the Makers since probably around the first time I listened to Reverend and the Makers so I don't really know. I would agree they're probably not big enough for that though and Rev's even moaned about R+L not booking them in years anyway, plus they're at V.

What about Kele? He's at a fest in Germany the weekend before R+L and got a good slot last time he played solo so it might work. Dunno why he wouldn't have been announced yet but still worth thinking about.

Yeah could work that, but I doubt is that he'd be headline sized when Klaxons weren't. Also the type of crowd and nature of the festival has changed quite a bit since he got that good billing in 2010 and this new Bloc Party album may change things.

Rev won't play on the dance stage anyway FR hates (they fell out over something a while ago and even Rev has said they don't want to play the festival) them so the chances of them being asked to play are slim

:( Real shame. It would work really well and soften the blow of having Rebel headlining the NME I feel.

Them falling out also seems to explain their absence from any post 2007 line ups as well then. Something the 12 year old me could never seem to figure out.

I put that up here to be critiqued. Tell us where you think I'm going wrong and who you think will do fill the slot? I'm interested.

I didn't want to start pulling it apart for fear I wouldn't stop so I'll keep it brief: them playing V means you can be 99% sure they aren't doing R&L and not a reason for their delayed announcement, Hannah Wants represents the 1% and they don't give enough of a shit to delay her announcement so why would they bother with Reverand & The Makers, they have bad history with the festival, your claim that they have gone more dance but would still appeal to the 'indie lads' crowd doesn't make sense (why would the dance stage try and appeal to that crowd), and you try and justify the booking of an 'indie' band by referencing Klaxons and Jagwar Ma as if to say of they could play the dance stage then so could any other indie band. In short you are right, there is no substance to your optimism. But keep trying!

I have no idea who the third headliner could be, and don't care enough to try and figure one out.

I was disappointed when I saw Jesus. Too much talking about being nice to people, not enough of an actual show. Only 5 minutes of the feeding a thousand people and turning water into wine, rest of the time he just rambled.

he's been doing a farewell tour for nearly 2000 years as well, he's almost as bad as motley crue. Edited by lightning1000

Youve described the standard kanye West show
