Vinyl records

I'm thinking of starting a vinyl collection, I've been thinking about it for a while but on a student budget haven't been able to make any movement on it but I've saved up some (not a huge amount, but expendable) cash and wanted some input

If i went ahead with it I would probably buy a record player for £50-100 and would want to aim to buy a record a month (or whenever i find some on the cheap)

alternatively, i have a decent CD collection and Spotify, so i could just put that money into getting some quality speakers to dress up some MP3s

looking for some thoughts on whether a vinyl collection is worth starting, particularly on a budget as i know the vinyl market is expensive at the moment, but I've always been a big fan of the concept
