Deer lodge

I think the setup has changed slightly each year. It's definitely much bigger now and the tents/yurts/pads etc are much closer together. I stayed in a bell tent once. They are nice but the whole thing is not as luxurious as they try and make out. I preferred the emperor field when you could park next to your tent. You had more space the grass was shorter to you didn't get so wet when it rained (or dew in the morning) the toilets were closer, the ground is flatter, your closer to the arena ..... But then the emperor field is not what it used to be. A couple of years ago you would have been better off in the family field than the emperors at no extra cost.

They did make changes last year so the Deer Lodge car park was closer to the tents and you do have toilets closer now than when the Lodge started. But the biggest advantage is that you don't have to pack or put up a tent. So more room for beer, food etc. Also you will have more space and head room than a normal tent you'd take to a festival. Not stayed in the lux pad, but they look like they have a solid floor which would be a big bonus.

Other than that it does tend to be a bit more tame than general camping. I know it does depend on who your neighbors are and there are those people who say "it is a festival, what do you expect", but you are not likely to have people partying until it is light, peeing on your tent, being sick on your tent...... as happened to me on the Saturday and Sunday night my first year in general camping. And I was right next door to the family camping area or possibility in it. (It wasn't as well marked out back then.

Is it worth it - Yes, it was for me when I stayed there as was a special birthday in the family, I was busy at work so didn't have time to sort things out, had teenage kids.

Reply if you have any specific questions. But be aware that the setup has changed each year across the whole festival so it's likely to again with the capacity is increasing.
