Latitude Festival 2015

I saw Songhoy Blues at the Great Escape festival, earlier in the year, and they had the entire crowd dancing! I'll definitely be watching them again.

I haven't been to Latitude for quite a few years (7!) and times have changed a bit since then! Do they now do an app for smart phones, like a lot of other festivals do? Also, I'm pretty sure you had to pay for programmes before. Is that still the case?

There has been an app in recent years, but you have to pay to unlock the times.  The phone reception was beyond awful last year and the lack of a phone sponsor this year worries me, but since Melvin and co have to use it too I'm guessing they'll apply a solution.  The programmes will probably be £10 this year, they are in an A5 book form.  If you just want the times on your phone then I'd suggest taking a photo of the large times that are up on the info boards, these are by the camping zone controls and in the arena just as you go over the lake.

So excited about this year. Staying with friends in Beccles.

Its my third year but first full weekend as normally have been on Sundays.

Of all the festivals I have been to, this still remains my favourite. I went to Coachella a few weeks ago and it was a remarkable experience but something about the size and attitude of Latitude that I enjoy more so than others.

Anyway, question regarding cameras. I just got a nice DSLR as a birthday present and wondering will they allow me to bring it into the grounds?

I have an entry-level DSLR and emailed customer services as it definitely is not professional equipment, but could be mistaken as that by someone who doesn't know cameras. I got the following response so you should be ok - I am however printing out the email and taking it with me, just in case!

"cameras are normally permitted for personal use though professional cameras and video/audio equipment are strictly prohibited. Live video/audio recordings made without the permission of the artiste/promoter are prohibited. DSLR’s are also allowed."

Thanks for that. The programmes are a bit steep, but I'd still probably be tempted. I have the ones from my previous Latitudes (2007 & 2008) on the bookcase behind me! Good call on taking a photo of the times on the info boards - can't believe I hadn't thought of doing that before!

Serches are fairly thorough. Not as thorough as Field Day. But not as lax as Green Man either. If you have enough cunning, there is enough ways to sneak some contraband in. As for if yr caught, well, if its a bit of vodka, it wil just be confiscated. Course, terms & conditions state that they reserve the right to refuse admission etc. But you will be fine.

Anyone been to Latitude alone? Was gonna go with my dad but I think my mum has scuppered that for him :(. Is there anything like Camp Loner at Download?

Never been to a festival alone before, but I don't think I can miss Portishead. Did it once, at Glasto. Mistake...

Mistake...

Sure I saw a couple of years back something about a Billy Loadsa Mates camp for people going alone, but think it was arranged through the official festival forum.

First time at Latitude and I have a few questions for the experts

Any recommendations on the best places to camp? I'm used to glastonbury so this whole arena/campsites thing seems pretty weird to me. Looking at the map Yellow looks handiest for everything but does that mean it's busy and the toilets are grimmer than elsewhere? The official site mentions long drops in the campsites - do these tend to be across all the sites? I'm not overly fussy about toilets - I just prefer long drops to portaloos by a LONG way (was camping in the disabled field at glasto last year - the only place left with portaloos and they were not nice at all). Am I overthinking this stuff because I'm used to the mammoth trudges round hilly glastonbury and tripping over guy ropes in the dark?

I've got a trolley for getting my stuff on site (one of those 4 wheeler ones with a pullalong handle) - are these allowed? The site talks about renting trollies but I'd rather use my own if I can and pop it back in the car once we've set up camp.

Best places to camp - avoid Yellow, Green and Red are both fine. There are no long trudges, we were camped in Green C last year and was max 20 mins pushing a baby in a buggy. Yellow is full of teenagers and the associated noise/anti-social behaviour. There are toilet long-drop blocks in al the camping sections, they are kept a lot cleaner than at Glastonbury.

Trolleys are no problems, we have always used a sack trolley without any problems, also no long trudge from car to camp area.
