Changes since 2012

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone! So I've decided to start posting on here (finally). I haven't been to Reading since 2012, although it's only been a few years, it seems like there has been quite a few changes. I was quite a big fan of the lock up so I'm a bit disappointed that it's just on the one day now. Also there is now an actual dance stage as opposed to having one day on the lock up? Is this about the same size as the lock up? We've also seen the introduction of the bbc1 extra stage, would stage size would you compare this to? I was just wondering if the general audience has changed since 2012 with the addition of these stages? Any other changes since I've been? (God I feel old)

There is an actual dance tent yeah, it's reasonably sized, probably a little bigger than the pit I guess? The 1extra tent is about as big as the FR tent from what I've seen of it, never actually been in though.

In terms of a changing audience it's remained relatively consistent in my opinion, 70% of attendees are dickhead GCSE graduates who don't know how to handle their shit and make complete embarrassments of themselves all weekend. In fact, the crowd are one of the main reasons I won't be attending again unless a fantastic lineup is announced.

Yup, the dance tent is deffo bigger than the FR.

The other major stage change is that the main tent is now a fair bit smaller than it was.

Thinks have been moved about a bit too and there are now two entrances into the arena

I last went a couple of years ago and felt tremendously old (I'm 32). Was camped with a bunch of people who are maybe five years younger than me, but it seemed like the vast majority of people were late teens to early twenties. Although maybe that's always been the case, I was 18 when I first went. It seemed like some of the whole festival atmosphere had gone, since the old days. Kids seemed to spend more time doing their hair and queueing for the showers than they did getting shitfaced and enjoying the music.
