What's with the sudden thought of Biffy? Surely not? I don't get the hype about Biffy. Doesn't quite fit with Emily saying the headliners couldn't be any bigger. Obviously there will be a slight exaggeration to that statement, but Muse would fit more in with that.

Just think they make more sense as a booking than Muse, and I'd be predicting them if it wasn't for what Neil said about the Eavii thinking they're too small.

New album out as opposed to Muse already having toured it for over a year.

Never headlined, as opposed to Muse returning after playing recently.

Announced for European fests around Glastonbury, although Muse are active until mid-June anyway.

Just seems like the Kasabian and Arcade Fire bookings in that they've never done it, whilst having already headlined everywhere else they could do, and there doesn't really seem to be any other UK festival they could do.

They would've been a decent option in 2013 or 2014 but I don't feel there's as much point now - their peak period was a pretty long time ago and, while they built up a fanbase that saw them headline festivals on the last tour, does it really matter about booting them up the Glastonbury lineup now?

Still you've got a point that it's a better option than Muse. I dunno how it could be much worse than that shit.

well Emily's opinion is hardly something that can be a quantifiable fact. she sad the 2015 Sunday sub was "great", and it turned out to be Paul bloody Weller....

The thing with Biffy will be how successful the next album is. If it's another Only Revolutions, they headline. Another Opposites, and they're on the wane.

I think it will come down to a couple of massive singles.  If they can release a pair like Mountains and Many of Horror, the headline slot is theirs for the taking.

have you ever heard a promoter say they've got an average act for a particular slot? :P

which is exactly my point. every promoter will say they've got "huge" or "amazing" acts, when in reality that's not really the case in most people's opinion. There weren't many people on here jumping for joy at the announcement of Paul Weller returning with his plod-rock.

I don't know who the headliners this year are, but Emily saying that "they couldn't be any bigger" isn't something that can be a fact as it's just her opinion, and I'm sure many people will be of the opinion that there's bigger ones that weren't booked.

as such, I wouldn't really be ruling out any acts based solely on that statement.

Going back to Adele, I'm just looking at the ticket prices for her arena shows next year (might get my mum a pair for xmas). There's quite a spread, £105  (Inc fees) most expensive, £40 cheapest. If she goes she's sitting at the back.

Not like she'll be missing out on all the energy or walls of death up front

All seating gigs generally stink......just another way of making more money. Must be great for the bands though, everyone knows that the richest fans are the one's who make the best audiences/deserve to be the closest to the band.

do all seating gigs make more money then? I always assumed because you can squeeze more standing people in it made up for the fact that the tickets are cheaper. I guess that's probably not the case now I think about it, as the floor seats at somewhere like the o2 are normally twice as expensive and I suppose there arent twice as many people standing.

It was an assumption on my part to be fair.....but I always figured that being able to charge a premium for front of house seats would result in way more money (the VIP/Platinum ones are like £500 sometimes!). No seating, no premium seats.

Also I don't think seating generally fits less people in. If you go to the back of a venue like the O2 when there's a standing gig it's a lot more sparse. At a seating gig people go all the way to the back. I'd imagine they fit less standing in then you'd imagine because of health and safety/fire exits etc.
