Nah it's totally happening, they just haven't made plans yet. So Muse or whoever they're talking to now will decide not to just as Radiohead start putting tour plans together and that's how they end up headlining Glastonbury 2016. It destroys nothing. It makes the whole enterprise stronger. Ri Ri has a massive Glastonbury sized hole in her UK tour dates. and I am one of many who would say Hell Yeah! Heeey. Wait a minute. my 'defecating on the microphone' quote has been taken right out of context there. I don't think hip hop is shit. At all. And resent the implication. put on ready or not by the fugees and listen. i merely find th lyrics inappropriately funny, due to a metaphor the strikes me a little too visual. ace56blaa
was watching the coldplay radio one gig, (i might have to end up seeing them at glasto cause of friends) and i thought it was funny straight after annie mac announced the gig was being filmed for television, so many phones went up in the air to film coldplays entrance. why do you need shit footage when there is professionals filming it. im glad that doesn't happen as much at glasto

Especially the headliner. Seriously, meet back at the tent after the last bands. There are only three headliners. Do not waste one to be with your mates for a couple of hours, you'll see them all weekend - they should able to cope.

ace56blaa
yeah I know, bringing some friends who haven't experienced it yet and so the spectacle of a pyramid headliner i think is still a cool experience, and the coldplay, though dull do have some good songs, but yeah obviously is something better is on, ill be elsewhere. if we get sigur ros, sufjan stevens, beach house as headliners somewhere etcetc then i'll gladly ditch my friends. God i hope sufjan liked doing end of the road enough to headline the park this year Edited December 6, 2015 by ace56blaa

If not you might be surprised at the live show, it's nowhere near as dull as listening to the albums (and that's coming from a Coldplay fan!) , if you have then it's probably best you don't go and watch again as it'll be no different! Nothing at all, seeing a band because your mates like the band is totally fine. It's the suggestion of compulsion that I was taking exception to "I might have to end up seeing them" You shouldn't feel that to have to do anything at Glastonbury. You might decide you want to spend time with your mates rather than see a band you marginally prefer - that's totally cool - but be forced to see a band? Seriously, fuck that shit, been there, done that. Life, and the festival is too short to suffer through somebody else's music if you'd really rather be elsewhere. I abandoned my wife to be to see Africa Express instead of the Pyramid headliner in 2007. Best Glastonbury decision I ever made!
ace56blaa
yeah i know all this. :) haha there will be no peer pressure to do anything, my friends are chill, we split up this year, (i saw perfume genius instead of alt j) Being realistic the line ups not out yet, I meant it in a more as I was checking out the live show to see whether i would wanna see coldplay at all. You guys make it seem like a hostage situation. ( i guess it's just that serious when it comes to coldplay)

Mind you, it was different when I was a lad (90s), since losing your mates might be the last time you see them until morning.

One thing I have heard many friends and family members complain of is the feeling of obligation leading to resentment or bad feeling, it can lead to rows among groups and I believe that this is one of the most common things that causes some to not enjoy a festival. I go on my own or with my kids, spend a little time with friends who are there camped elsewhere for a gig or two but mostly I am off on my own. I totally get, however, that sometimes seeing a gig with the right people can make it 1000 times better. Oddly as the subject was Coldplay, in 2011 I changed my mind after elbow and decided to stay with the kids and watch the headliner, it was the best night of my year. They always perform with gusto and have some of the fanciest stage show tech of any act out there (their laser and projection rig in 2011 was rumoured to have cost more to install than they got paid and required lots of special work to set up before the festival, I am told by a friend who was working there in the run up that year). Woffy
I fucked off on my own to the Park on the Saturday this year: Father John Misty bloke > Mavis Staples > Spiritualized > Jon Hopkins. Great fucking afternoon evening night. Fought against the tide heading towards Farrel / Canyay on the way there. Sooooo worth it.
FuzzyDunlop
At Glastonbury I have only once chosen to stay with my mates rather than see the act I wanted to.. 2010. Friday, I wanted to see the Flaming Lips - everyone else wanted to see the Gorillaz. I had been having a few problems with the heat, had not slept since I had got there and was in a bit of a gillespied mess. I couldn't face fighting through the crowd to the other stage to stand on my own. What a cock awful decision that was.

Have totally been in the same position more than once, where an act I'd probably prefer is just a few hundred meters away, but the crowd, ground conditions and lack of stamina have got to me. I've sometimes had all the better time for it (choosing the Primals over trudging across the site in the rain for U2) and sometimes regretted the choice (Sticking with the Mumfords rather than heading off to seek something better in 13). Nothing really terrible about them at all, and an expensive lightshow could be great when I'm up to my eyeballs in tequila... which isn't uncommon. Only thing I can see foiling my plans is me getting really annoyed at the thousands of people getting more excited at Coldplay and knowing more words than at The Stones and Arcade Fire, then it's off to the Stonebridge. Mezhyp1
Coldplay have just added a fourth night at Wembley, why do they need to play Glastonbury with 2 dates in Manchester and 4 at Wembley, selfish beggars, bugger off and yes, I know, I definitely won't watch them, but I wouldn't wish said misery on others

I got monumentally slaughtered from 11am Thursday morning to 3am Friday morning and didn't really recover from it. Couple that with the untested wellies I took which tore my feed to shreds, the massive hayfever assault I got on the Saturday, and the horrible tent neighbours who woke me up for good every morning without fail at 6am. I really missed out on after hours this year, and my waking hours were quite gruesome. If I weren't in one of my favourite places in the world and determined to have a great time, I'd have been pretty miserable. I have learned from these mistakes and will be taking all precautions next year, tearing it up each night in the Stonebridge is my goal, and I shall see it through. rubenz
Last time Coldplay were on I went to see John digweed in one of the tents with about 6 other people (not six mates it was just empty) I thought I was making a stand against the Coldplay mediocrity but apparently it was a decent show and I sort of regretted not going (I still think Coldplay are pretty dreadful mind) Edited December 7, 2015 by rubenz
fatyeti24
i liked the projections on the outside of the pyramid that the coldplays paid for in 2011. thankfully they left them on all night so you didn't have to be in the vacinity of the gig to appreciate them.
