themuel
I accept they may enforce rules for the big acts, but I've been for a wander in that field every year I've been and never been turned away for not having children with me. As long as you smile going in you're ok.
The 38 year old virgin
I met Stephen Hawkins in Amsterdam about 15 years ago, talking to one of the working girls hanging out of her door. In my rather inebriated state, I didn't believe my eyes. True story
Untz
Put Hawking on after Mr Lama, get rid of Weller, bump up the other acts. And there's that Grease song in my head again.
MichaelsBeard
Does seem a bit of a waste having him there. He'd command a huge crowd on the Pyramid.

mr gumby
I've got to wonder what his appearance will be like. I'd love it if hundreds of adults managed to wangle their way in, only to hear him reading The Tiger That Came To Tea
dingbat2
I do wonder why they have chosen the Kidsfield for him. Yep he will inspire kids with his descriptions about the wonders and the inprobabilty of the universe, but when he starts banging on about string theory and quantum physics then I think he might lose at least a couple of the less gifted kids in the kids field ( I also think that Bodger and Badger lost the kids for very similar reasons but I might be wrong....) I hope he does a lecture at the Crows Nest, i would genuinely queue up for hours to be there. Seems a bit of a waste of his intellectual superiority to not have him somewhere other than the Kidsfueld over the weekend....

Untz
( I also think that Bodger and Badger lost the kids for very similar reasons but I might be wrong....) Didn't realise they researched string theory, I know they are pretty big in the mash theory field.

Sawdusty surfer
I do wonder why they have chosen the Kidsfield for him. 'They' haven't chosen The Kidz Field for him, The Kidz Field will have invited him. Tony Cordy runs TKF and it is pretty much up to him how he runs it. This is how the individual fields of the festival work.
fur_q
reading that book as a parent, I realised that that story is about an alcoholic mother trying to hide the truth from her hubby and daughter. It's really about Judith Kerr's home being visited by the Gestapo prior to the outbreak of WWII, (her farther was a prominent German writer and critic of the Nazis who had by that point already fled to France)

Slugworth
Not quite Hawkins but i had a chat with Professor Heinz Wolfe today. I was going to ask him, the infamous Ali G question, that if the smallest thing on the planet was 'a salt', but thought he probably wouldn't appreciate that. Slugworth
The most random thing I've ever seen announced! I think there is going to be a serious issue with crowds for him. I personally would want to go but last time I tried to walk through to have a look round I was told no as I had no children. Wonder if they will stop people going in without kids? Gutting! I think i've just decided on my fancy dress.

mungo57
Yeah it seems from his site that he and his daughter have done a kids book, looks like he may be reading it. If they can fit him in for a lecture somewhere then I will be there with bells on!
Wanderlei
If Hawking is elsewhere on the bill too, it'd be interesting if they put him up against the Dalai Lama. Let the battle commence lol
