Always been there. Nice idea not very well executed.

New photo is fab.

There's always room for improvement so I'd be keen to hear your thoughts. I don't have all the time in the world so that's often my limiting factor. DM if you like! Cheers

yes your forced to walk arround it - the old map did not make this clear

but you can see it better on

http://cdn.glastonburyfestivals.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2014/03/FG-2015-MAP-v3.png

some people who were using fancy toilets claimed their toilet pass got them though but when I pointed out they must have been dreaming as I know how difficult it is to even get on that track ' with a crew pass ' and photo ID to show that was my crew camp .

as they have spent a bomb laying all sorts of cables I cant see that area every being used by ticketholders.

this is the start of it ' before the gates opened ' - stewards and or security showed up and they kept watch 24/7 + at the other end { near the farm house } you need a crew pass ' to go into and out of that area ' so people who did manage to skip though were sent back so doubling up their walking time.

bottom image is at the end of the crew area .

I know its a pain but there is a lot of traffic on that road so they cant have random people walking about.

VG4.jpg2013-wbc-74.jpg

we used that path midnight on Sunday, walked right along the entire old railway line until we were stopped going into the SE corner. I know we were meant to have crew ID but nobody checked

Would oxfam ID get you along that area or not?

I don't know what Oxfam issue - if you mean a GFL crew wristband then it would
there is Security and or Stewards at entry and exit { in both directions } and they are supposed to keep that path clear due to the fact that there is bloody big JCB's using that path moving supplies in and out - they are there 24/7 as I walk past them many times every day.

Hey sorry, didn't mean to come across quite so negatively. I will DM you.

No offence taken :-) There's more you could do with it for sure but glasto only comes round once a year so didn't want to spend toooo much time fussing over it (and I'm no pro web dev guy either). The main aim was to provide an easy way to share a location on the festival site with others. Other stuff was bolted on later. The aerial pic is the star of the show!

I like it a lot - where did you get the photo from?

My wish list if you get time:

Can you get the photo to include car parks?

It it possible to add more than one marker

Oxfam issue staff with 2 pieces of "ID" -

An Oxfam Photo ID badge, which won't (or to be more exact, shouldn't) get you access to anywhere except the Oxfam crew field.

An EPO wristband, which allows access through the gates and along most roads that are normally kept clear for vehicle access.

that is what is knowing as a ' GFL crew wristband ' so if jonodillieono was issued that then it explains how they had access though the crew only path at Paines Ground

Last year those at Worthy View were also issued EPO wristbands and I don't think they count as Crew!

they are various passes security/stewards know which is which
I worked on Production at one event in the early 90's and there was over 80 different passes .
I am sure my crew pass would not work if I tried to enter Worthy View just as a Worthy View pass will not work in a crew area .

I wasn't saying your 'crew pass' would let you into worthy view as it's outside the gates therefore you would need an EPO. I get an EPO and a production pass, the EPO would let me into worthy view should I wish (I don't) the production pass lets me into the P&O production areas and roads but wouldn't give me the access of site wide pass across the rest of the site. An EPO shouldn't give you access to restricted areas full stop therefore if someone managed to get down to your camp or onto restricted paths etc they did it because security didn't bother checking or didn't care

EPO's issues to Oxfam are really just so that we can get in and out of the site to the Oxfam field without having to mess around with pass out tickets and ticket stubs. They typically don't let you into anything else, though blagging with one plus an ID lanyard has got me past security and through the odd easier gate in the past, e.g. into Shangri-La avoiding the queue....

I am not claiming anything - all I am saying is ' if someone has a Crew pass issued by GFL { provided it is the right colour } then a person can walk down that path leading to the old railway track ' - if they don't then they are likely to be stopped - its dead simple.it just so happens it also has EPO on it but it may be a completely different colour to your pass - The only time I have to show my photo ID pass is when I enter my own crew camp site.

Shame they never released any similar high quality aerial photos following the 2013 and 2014 fests.

give it time - A few of us { you may be able to guess who } have been asked to help out with a super image from 2014 which is just now 10 MB's working image with a plan to release a 20 MB's public image
now this one is a cracker but we have been asked not to make this public
all the information as to when it was taken will be released at the same time and it is for sure a 2014 Overhead
This will be the first overhead that I have ever seen that even marks out where Goose hall is - I already knew but I bet there is some workers who have heard the name but are unsure of its location .
My main involvement is to name all the bars { not as easy as it sounds }
I have a few edit suggestions to make and will then will have a better idea when it will be made public.

A quick update - it looks as if the finished overlay will be out this coming week.
Not sure how we missed it but there was a few spelling mistakes that was not there before.
Our aim { a full list of who was involved will come out at the same time } was to make it as accurate as possible - now it will never be 100% correct but its close.
We don't have ever bar listed as some of the small ones move that fast that its near impossible without the Master GFL DPS map { that they never release }
Once I have the green light will place a link here and I am sure other threads started by well knowing posters will appear shortly.

Hi, I'm the guy who put glastomap.com together. You're right it was taken in 2011 and I believe it was around 5pm on the Sunday of the festival. Which sounds right as if you look closely you'll see some small grassy patches in popular camping spots where people have packed up early.
Thanks all for the nice comments too. If you want anything added just let me know! Ta

Bloody good job on the pic, impressive and useful

Any chance you could add property lock up locations please? I would find that handy

Thanks again : )

This has been posted on FB Glasto Chat, a similar idea to Glastomap, far less hi res image but better labelling: http://www.wherever.me.uk/G2015/G2014overlay.jpg

Thanks for sharing.

Pylon, Bushy Ground etc really empty so imagine the image itself is a few years old? Maybe 2011 as 2010 one of those fields was set up for the football was it not? I've camped in Pylon the past couple of festivals and it certainly felt much fuller than that image suggests.

It has Despacio on it, and Arcadia below the Park, so must be a 2014 image.

It's from last year I think. Arcadia isn't super imposed. The Despacio tent is on there and there's no toilets by the lock up at the entrance to Silver Hayes.
