I just don't think the Liverpool squad is good in the slightest.

Mignolet is average at best, the defence is a shambles bar Clyne, Benteke has been okay. The midfield is solid but you can see the gap that Gerrard has left. Sturridge and Coutinho remain Liverpool's best players but they're not amazing by any stretch of the imagination.

Losing Gerrard, Suarez and Sterling in the last two years has badly hurt Liverpool as a squad and it'll take a lot to bounce back from it.

Henderson injured at the moment is a significant loss to the team they can put out. He's been their most creative player in recent times.

And I think you're under-rating Sturridge. If he stays uninjured he's likely to be one of the top scorers in the league this year, perhaps even the top scorer. (tho there's not a lot of of great competition right now).

That's not me saying I'm expecting great things from the team, just to make it clear. I'll be surprised if they don't finish in much the same place as last year tho.

Morton have an interesting game at the weekend. Raith Rovers haven't been terrible. We got horsed by Rangers on Sunday, but that's Rangers. This isn't. So once again I feel we've got a chance at a win in this one. Think we really need to consider going to a 4-5-1 and put Tidser in the middle to accommodate two actual wingers, but Duffy will continue to press on with Tidser as a winger, and hinder the team yet again.

No LFC manager can recover from that 6-1 at Stole. He should've gone then.

See, I think that's a ridiculous thing to lay on any manager's head. It's not him that played shit that day.

The way last season went it was pretty obvious the bubble would burst badly if they lost to Man Utd in a match that seemed like a decider for whether Liverpool would make the top four, and that's pretty much what happened. By the time the players got to Stoke they had sod all to play for ... except for giving Stevie G a nice send off... and I wonder if that was in the mix too (with not so much of the 'nice').

The manager had proven he could get the players playing well during the season. It's not the manager who stopped them playing well.

I can understand why he's got another chance and unlike you I don't think he's hanging on frayed cotton just yet - tho I do think his chances run out pretty soon. But not in the next month.

I reckon Raith will sneak it given their excellent home record so far this season but it should be a tight game. Two sides who could be pushing for the play-offs given St. Mirren are a shambles and QOS seem a bit inconsistent.

Alternatively you could say the players showed they could get themselves playing well. I don't think its right to give the manager the credit when things go well, but the players the blame when they go badly. To me its a team effort, but the reality is its easier to remove a manager than a significant group of players.

He's toast Neil. Would strongly disagree with your thoughts earlier this week that he's got the support of most fans. Vast majority want him out.

Yep, tho a part of what caused the downturn could be put down to Sterling's 'i want out' strop. And that last game, I have a suspicion might have been the players having a pop at ... erm ... another player.

Whatever, he was given another chance.

Having been given another chance it seems madness to not allow him the time he got last season to get them ticking (so December at earliest would be the time to give him the push), and then if he gets them ticking the expectation should be that it doesn't fall to shit at the end of the season this time.

That would be giving him a fair go I reckon, and if the intention is to build something the you have to give it the opportunity to build. If you're going to chop and change every five minutes you're just as likely to chop downwards as upwards, and find yourself in no better position.

Perhaps he'll get the boot sooner than I think, it's not like unrealistic owners is unusual.

there's not been a guardian article with open comments that I've seen in the last week or so, so I can't say if opinion has recently changed in what I've read from fans.

Perhaps it's deeper thinking fans who read the Guardian, rather than the screaming harpies? :P

I personally think rodgers should go, the squad he plays and the formation says enough really. I can agree to an extent the squad doesn't show the same passion but they ain't done that in years so its nothing "new" balotelli struggled alot because he was ALONE and benteke will do the same and in the UTD game had to set up his own goal. I think by now he would of realised that a player like lovren shouldn't be on the pitch and we NEED 2 strikers.

For the first time ever i think everton are favourites even in my own mind.

Is that first time in 113 years or first time since you've supported liverpool?

Even in recent history I'd say Liverpool were in a bigger mess prior to the takeover, tomorrows team is much better than this one sat in the relegation zone: http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/eng_prem/9085638.stm

Id say in over 15 or so years but obviously since I'm a liverpool supporter id always say we would beat them anyway but this time i just can't really see it. Yeah we was horrid then too but if you do look at the table they was only 3 points ahead. I guess it was abit of an over exageration on my part but i cant help but think this team is falling apart big time.
