Right - i didn't realise that was how it worked. That makes more sense - though it's still weird.

In regular season how do they decide who you play at home twice and vice versa

I think that's just randomised, though I imagine they try to balance it out so that a team isn't playing the same team away twice a few years in a row.

The deal for Klopp would of been done before Rodgers got sacked and I think Rodgers got told he was going to get sacked prior to the Everton game, probably have to wait until the weekend until they announce it even tho I'm 90% sure its already in place.

I dont think he would have know prior to Everton. It did not look or sound as such anyway and to my mind makes no sense to do so

I think this was done before we could even think, someone in work told me the Liverpool players didn't look so "good" in the second half and maybe Rodgers told them? who knows tho.

I just thought Utd and Pool fans could for once be in unison and enjoy the shenanigans at Chelski at the moment. It really is hilarious watching Jose crack. Him falling back in his seat at the weekend was top stuff. And this playing the victim is brilliant

Chelsea not a team I really hate to be honest, city are the same.

My hatred is limited to Liverpool and Leeds.

In other news celery has gone quiet in the footie thread...

Fear not, I am here. No one talking out of their backside about my team atm and not got much to say about Liverpool.

Feel free to ask me a direct question rather than making passive aggressive digs...

Klopp's 'challenge' at Dortmund was a much easier task. Although like Liverpool there were in 6th/7th when he took over, he only really had Bayern to overcome. Shalke, Wolfsberg, Leverkusen are all decent teams, but not really top level.

The aim at Liverpool is to challenge for the title. Top 4 aims really aren't good enough for one of the biggest teams in world football. He has to overcome City, United, Arsenal and Chelsea - all of which are spending millions each year to strengthen. They all have a bigger pull in terms of wages and stature when recruiting, so I believe Klopp will really struggle.

Of course he could come in and win a league title in his first few years and become a hero, which I'm sure he is relishing the opportunity to do so, but I just can't see it happening anytime soon.

In say 3 seasons if he hasn't won any silverware and has missed out on top 4, the reputation Klopp has done so well to build will be under threat, and he could quickly go from the most sought after manager in world football, to another has been if he chooses the wrong job.

lol what a lemon

Any other manager and I probably wouldn't myself but Jose has a way of making me wish for things to happen to him and Chelski to make me laugh and to entertain me. And it's been gold recently. It's also great seeing Terry being made a monkey of too now and then

And ivanovic being torn apart on a weekly basis has been pretty enjoyable. Never liked him.

Such a tough job that I can't really see being made easier until FSG are gone, and some owners will real money who are willing to spend, come in and buy the club.

FSG have real money, but they are in the business to make money like the owners at arsenal and man utd (not so much Chelsea and city) and will not run at a loss

that would be the London factor tho. London is very popular with those from overseas, anywhere else much less so.

If it came down to what the clubs themselves could offer then playing in front of a bigger crowd would win out over Chelsea.

in the sort-term, yes. If they're established top-4 at the expense of one of those others then things change. Success attracts success.

While FSG might not be throwing the cash about as much as some others, they've still been pretty damned good. They've averaged over £35M a season with their net player investments.

It's not enough to get past the others on the spend amount, but it is enough to get past the others if the circumstances fall your way.

London is a factor, but it isn't the only one.  When Liverpool switched champions league football with man Utd (not in London last time I checked) for one season it didn't result in Liverpool being a more attractive club than their rivals for potential signings.  You probably need a couple of seasons to convince the better players that its not just a fluke.

If a Euro Super League got rid of the Old Firm from our game, I'd be delighted.

Agreed. Think a bigger league is more realistic in the short term than seeing the back of them. If we had 16 playing each other twice then surely it would level things a bit as over 4 games the " big " boys are normally going to come out on top. The days of the big away support are long gone ( partly due to lunch time KO`s to be fair ) so hopefully the clubs would favor competition over cash.........

16 would have it`s problems of course. For a start, that rotten lot from Greenock would have a chance of playing in the top flight  :P

Did Dundee Utd not play Celtic 7 times last season ?

Edit : 7 times during season 14/15 including 4 times during 2 weeks in March 2015. Farcical stuff.

This and the link before it, which was made on Sunday, have both claimed 3 year deals, although the point I'm getting at is that other sources such as sky sports and the Liverpool website are still yet to realise any statement

edit; this work net is horrid

ahh, K.

Yep, those reports from Sunday appear to be 100% accurate.

So all the stuff about talks this week is probably bollocks. It's probably the case that the deal was done before Rodgers was sacked.

It would be hard to believe that the metro + telegraph both knew about this before the likes of the Liverpool website and sky sports, there's a reason why they're hiding it from the public because they MUST know. I can probably guess they're "hyping" it up more to keep people evening having the slightest doubt.
