most peeps would say the players are under-performing anyway, and there's often a decent bounce from a new manager. That might be all they need to get going.

I mean more in the mid term, from looking at the outside he built that club from the bottom. A bit like fergie did with United in the mid 80s, we know how long that took to get going.

At Dortmund a couple of 5th and 6th places before they started to fly. You would imagine it will be the same at Liverpool before he gets his ideas, vision to come through fully.

You've got almost a whole new team at Utd, and it's taken LvG just over a year to achieve that (and that's included some of those who came in going out again). It doesn't have to take too long.

I read somewhere (I forget where) that he's promised top 4 this season, tho it might not be true.

Will Klopp be allowed to spend as much as Van Gaal has? I doubt it. He'll have to rebuild using cheaper players and that will take more time to get right.

he won't need to spend as much as LvG. He won't waste £100M on pish. :P

Presumably Klopp's happy enough with the limits he has to work within, otherwise he wouldn't have taken the job. Hell, I reckon there's a 50/50 chance that I could get something better out of those players. They might not be world beaters but they're not shit.

Did they know you were available?

I mean, clearly everyone knows you're a better manager than Rogers.

Can't believe that didn't go for you as first choice.

James Forrest shouldn't be getting picked for Scotland at all, but now it appears we're putting him in the starting XI. He's an absolute shambles of a winger, and I can only assume he has files on each of his managers who are both blind to the fact that he's absolutely shit.

It's picking Steven Fletcher again I don't get ...4 goals in 20 odd appearances is bad enough ... But 3 were against Gibraltar.

As far as I've noticed, he's not exactly banging them in for Sunderland either.

Hope to be proved wrong.

I don't mind Fletcher but would have started Naismith up front tonight. Our best performance under Strachan was the home game against Croatia where Naismith started as a striker and Snodgrass in behind. Fletcher seems to have played every game in this campaign based purely on one good pass in the opening game.

Yeah fair play to Northern Ireland. Obviously they're in a weak group but their team on paper is quite poor so for them to qualify is a fantastic achievement.

Quite depressing that as the results stand we'll be the only home nation not to qualify.

I would say the disadvantage of having a tiny population far outweighs any advantage from a draw.

Of course such a small country qualifying is a brilliant achievement, was just pointing out that they're in one of the weaker groups. Obviously the groups not so weak that Northern Ireland should be qualifying on paper and they've deserved it so well done to them, making the finals is great for them.

Agreed, I have only heard of 3 of there players!

Dissapointed by scotland. The difference between them and ireland is minimal. Seemed to turn on the scotland v georgia and ireland v germany games.

We've only taken 2 points from our last four games which has been our problem, really should have been 5 minimum. Even 7 was a realistic target. No one to blame but ourselves really.

Yeah there's not much between ourselves and Ireland and I think our games showed that. We've probably got a couple of more creative players which ultimately was the difference in the first game but even then in Coleman and McCarthy they have two players better than anyone in our team. Disappointing to finish behind both Ireland and Poland when we have decent records against them but they took care of Georgia and managed to get great wins against Germany so as I said it's our own fault.

I think the wage structure is a bigger problem at Liverpool than the transfer fees they can/will pay.

Scotland doing again what they're good at - failing gloriously. Will Strachan want to stay on? Any other candidates?

Chuffed for Northern Ireland. Be great if they got a draw that gave them a fighting chance.

As for the Irish - clearly you should pick West Ham players more often!

He'll be offered the chance to stay on but I get the feeling he'll leave anyway. There's not many Scottish options that sound particularly appealing, just the usual collection of out of work managers who aren't good enough. Paul Lambert would probably be the best of those but can't say I'd be too keen on him getting it. Hopefully if Strachan goes we at least give foreign managers a chance rather than solely going down the Scottish route.

Scott Brown is a nightmare btw.

Thought the performance was decent, and two absolutely belting goals from Scotland. Ritchie's especially was glorious. That second Poland goal though. Serious WTF stuff at the back.

Ireland taking 4 points from Germany shows that we probably could have taken at least something from them. Ultimately we're just not good enough.

I'm pointing out that the players are underperforming. It's hardly a radical idea.

In spite of that I still reckon Rodgers is one of the better managers, who would have got them performing above their level if he'd have been given the time to do it. I'm only claiming I might have got them performing at their level.

I can't remember the last time a managerial appointment that has been rated as highly by fans and neutrals as klopp.

Oh fantastic for northern ireland to qualify.

Agree on both of those.

The hype is almost like a Prem club has signed Messi.

And fantastic for NI to qualify with such lowly resources.

Scotland tho. :P:lol:

Still buzzing!

Its been a long while since we had a night like that! :)

Funny thing was when Poland scored the equalizer many did not know what to make of it straight away. So many thought it was a good thing for Ireland when in fact because we were winning (something no one really thought about) it was in fact a bad thing...............

Some day of sport coming up this Sunday. Employers beware! ;)

I have the same feeling mate. Expect wgs will try to keep things tight and as positive as possible till after Sunday. He will want to keep an arm round his players not to mention the fans heading to Portugal.

A few of my mates plus my brother got picked up at 4 o`clock this morning bound for Portugal via Leeds. Sore one after last night  :(

I hope he stays but when he looks at what he`s got and who`s coming through, not to mention our WC group, he might fancy the pundits couch full time. Remember he walked on Middlesbrugh when he thought he had done as much as he could. Not taking the big pile of cash he was entitled to if I remember.

Agree we should widen the net as far as possible if he goes but still haunted by the memories of Berti.

Fair play to you lads. Fingers crossed for you on Sunday. The worst I could see happening ( for us ) last night was you guys getting a draw. Didn`t see you winning. Belter of a night for youz.

Poland couldn`t beat us over 2 games so if you can deal with their goal machine you have every chance. Worst case scenario I hope you get a decent draw in the play offs  :)

If only Scotland were as consistent as your good self.

Thought wgs was the right appointment and the first half of the campaign had me planning for France next summer.

Went to shit during the last few games and thought we got away with it a bit against Ireland. Georgia was a shambles and I thought we were lucky to be drawing at half time last night.

That goal right at the end though ffs plus Ireland beating the World champs. It`s a shite state of affairs  :(
