not taking any form of ID since I only have my passport and can't really risk that - if they ask for it and I say I haven't got any, how big of a deal would it be?

You should be fine getting in but they can be quite strict at the bars, I was nearly 24 and getting ID'd last year.

For what? Getting in or getting served? As long as you don't look 12 you'll be getting in fine, but as for the bars, you need to look well over 18 if you don't wanna get ID'd.

Unless it has the pass hologram they won't accept it.

Young Scot card or provisional is fine if you have either. I get asked for ID all the time at the bars and I'm a young looking 24 year old.

 

If you can't manage then you just get your mate you get two pints or go up twice.
