shedders
Just read that here - http://www.kendalcalling.co.uk/information/opening-times-entry/ Can't remember a festival with that restriction before. Been to ones where they restricted the calor gas bottle to 4.5KG max, which is fine for a proper family camping stove. Now looking around and can't find any camping stoves that take 150ml or less canisters (if they even exist?) Anyone who's been before know what actually happens in the campsite re cooking? Does everyone just ignore this rule? thanks
goldiegrey
Ignore that completely! Some folk have full on gas power professional bbq, with full size patio gas! We take proper camping gas stove with 4.5kg gas. They would never manage to police this one. People have proper kit, and a lot of it
andy85
They've had this rule for the last couple of years that I've been. Either somebody hasn't thought it through or somebody has and they're trying to stop you from cooking your own food. I've always taken a few 227g cartridges. No questions have ever been asked about them but technically they're against the rules so be prepared to lose them. If anyine has contacts with the festival to clarify the rules then I wouldnt mind hearing an official answer.
shedders
Do 150ml canisters exist? Setting the limit lower than you can even buy is the same as saying "no camping stoves" so why not just come out and say it?
goldiegrey
Seriously in the emperors field everyone has massive tent, awnings, stoves, tables, chairs, bbqs, parasols, loungers, hot tubs, golf carts........
shedders
Hot tubs allowed but maximum depth 10cm?
ramragon
Must admit I'm not sure who it'd put off, I would guess a majority of the people who will be taking gas bottles are people with families in the emperors or campervan field and they're gonna take no notice of a warning like that. Your average general camping teen isn't gonna be lugging a chunky gas bottle up the hill and through the campsite. If your using it to cook for the family and it's being used safely where's the harm
paddyclark
Yet they sell the 227g canisters on site Odd.
ramragon
Does anyone know if they enforced this rule anywhere ? I saw a few gazebos being taken off people trying to get them from the car park into general camping.
t2t
we took one of those £10 cookers from asda, going through the first time and the Man saw the gas canisters (just googled - 227g) and said "They're OK" and waved us through
