Last KC at Lowther Deer Park?

Was a BBQ at the weekend and the rumor was flying about that this will be the last KC in this location.

 

The gentry land owners are known to be a bit greedy, and don't know when they are on to something good, so have massively hiked the rent, and KC have said no thanks.

 

The new rumored location is Hutton in the Forest, which is still close by (a few miles north of Penrith) which is still beautiful estate parkland.

 

Will have to wait and see what happens!

It's the same tale every year !

At the end of the day if the festival wants to grow to the size they have been granted a licence for they will end up paying more rent !

They have just put new roads and sorted an entrance out , the festival applied for a new licence and got it , both parties won't want a move , for instance site move new licence application at a cost of in excess of 16k !!!! .

The festival will remain at Lowther for many years !

Will have to see.  The identical same thing happened to the people that ran the Leisure and wildlife park in there, they just upped and left when the rent was tripled.  

 

16k isn't a lot of money in the grand scheme of things!

Kendal is one of the few growing festivals in the UK, a move to a newer site to accomodate a larger capacity in the next few years wouldn't surprise me one bit. This rent stuff only adds to that

I know Gary that had Lowther Park, and the rent increase coupled with the year after foot and mouth put and and to the park.

 

So yes, yes it was because of that
