I would think that each act only became available after the big slots had been filled. For instance, Wolf Alice were apparently doing just some European festivals to try out some new material but I guess when sorting out their next summer's activities they get thrown a request for a secret set at Reading where they can continue debuting new material. Guess that's why the secret sets tend to be acts that are just about to go into an album tour.

They then went & pulled that and wound up doing this intimate tour culminating in tomorrow's set. Definitely a better way of trialing new material but a bit odd they didn't think of it in the first place

I don't know if I'm just getting old or what - I think the crowds are really lively and do make t enjoyable but I just can't get on board with the moshing to bands who just aren't Moshy music! I've seen people mosh to the likes of Sundara Karma and Two Door Cinema Club, and it's not just one or two pits you literally can't escape them if you're in front of the second barrier.

That's always been the case at Reading, at least during my time. Flume, The 1975, CHVRCHES ... I usually just move to a different spot in the crowd if its a problem. Ketamine plays a part too I imagine.

The pits at Architects yesterday were awful. Full of teenagers gently barging each other. Seeing them at Download would be a whole other experience.

Are they shite. Maybe sub at a push but I can't see them ever rising above that. Just isn't enough to them to them to headline.
