Pukkelpop 2016

Very convincing, but a fake. Equal Idiots are playing Pukkelpop as a part of 3 bands winning a Studio Brussel contest, yet no mention of the other 2 winners.

Edit: nevermind, they are there.

Edit 2: Still have major doubts over the font sizes. If Fall Out Boy, Biffy Clyro and Crystal Castles get to be in a bold font, then Oscar & The Wolf should be too. The latter sells as many concert tickets as the first three combined...

It is very convincing. However to me there's 9 bands headlining it going off font size there.

If it's anything like that, and I think it will be, we're in for a banger of an edition.

Don't think Young Fathers are playing with Massive Attack at every gig. For instance, they're both on the line up for BST but doing separate shows.

It looks like educated guess work combined with a little creative license, but agreed it will probably be quite close to what we get. There's hardly any DJs listed though and nearly all the acts are playing other festivals around that time, hence why I think it's just a good fake and not the real thing. They do like to list lots of bands in bold - makes the line up look stronger, gives them scope to change round who's at the top end of the bill and also a way to try and justify certain 'smaller' bands taking up higher places.

Reckon we'll get the first names after SXSW as quite a lot of the PKP crew are heading over to that

Last year the SXSW showcase was the 18th, names released on the 25th so you could be right. They'll want to be in Belgium for the announcement you'd think, even though they could do it remotely of course.

SXSW showcase night this year is on the 17th so you'd imagine Thursday 24th would be around the right date.

It's also fake cos this year is "Massive Attack & Young Fathers", not only Massive Attack. Nice try.

It wasn't "Massive Attack & Young Fathers" when I saw them a couple of weeks ago. It was simply Young Fathers supporting Massive Attack. YF did come on and sing two new songs they've recorded with MA as part of the latter's encore. But that was the dullest part of an otherwise great set.

You are right though, the poster is definitely fake. These "leaked" posters always are. Probably made by a Brit as they've made Biffy Clyro the same font size as Muse - they wouldn't get anything like the same billing in Belgium. Last time I saw Biffy at PKP (2010) they played in the Shelter at 5pm to an audience of about 50 people (they were bloody good though, so it was more fool the other 62,000 for missing out).

Someone on a local forum mentioned Wolfmother the other night but I think it was just speculation as they have a new album out. I had tickets to see them a few years ago but was ill so couldn't go. Would be a welcome addition in my book so let's hope they get announced. Reckon Parkway Drive will headline a night in the Shelter and can see Kaytranada, Jack Garrett and Ry X all featuring too.

Good news that RW have now completed their line up as it means we don't need to worry about them potentially ruling out anymore acts. Bit gutted they got New Order, Jagwar Ma, Disclosure, Foals and Mo but there's still a chance some of them might play. I know it's been mentioned already and I don't want to tempt fate but based on who's available in August and who hasn't been announced for RW, there's definitely the potential for this to be a vintage year.

Hard to believe we've only had one self confirmation so far. Used to be the case that we'd know 10-20 acts by now but they've really tightened things up in the last couple of years.

Who is the lone self confirmation? Battles?

But you're absolutely right: judging by who is playing festivals in that period and not yet announced for other Belgian fests, they'd really have to fuck up big time to not make this a far better lineup than last year's. I have the feeling there's a lot less major pop acts around as well. We do have Rihanna, but can't see a pop day happening like last year's Friday.

Dave spotted a DJ called 'Clap clap' who has PKP on his gig list. Have Battles self-confirmed too?

I did say this a few pages back but I think because Rihanna is such a huge 'pop' name they may well try to balance that out by stacking the rest (of the top end) of the line up with more credible/traditional PKP type bands, like LCD, Chems, Muse etc. Think they're smart enough to know they'd get absolutely slaughtered if they announced more pop names, especially after last year.

Ah yes, that explains why he keeps popping up on the fake posters.

Battles are mentioned on a different forum as 'self-confirmed', even though I can't find their source. They're playing Green Man the same weekend, so it makes sense.

You certainly are in the know Dave, Festileaks have just posted a story based on your tip about Chokri's daughters countdown!!

You have to get some AAA, VIP backstage access for this?!?!? Just make sure you add me as your +1!!

Nothing to do with me if the date isn't right :-)

And I think the festileaks story is right in saying that there's no reason why we won't get the bulk of the top end of the bill in the first announcement, barring Noel Gallagher who will probably be named after his Brussels show if he's on the line up, that is.
