Thursday night at EOTR 2015

Has anybody heard any good rumours about who might be playing in the Tipi Tent on the evening of Thursday 3rd Sept? Spotted any gaps in the current tours of suitable bands?

 

With the management connection between Simon and Ezra Furman, I'm hoping he'll be back to support the 10th anniversary show in some way. He was a revelation last year and has obviously gone on to make a bigger name for himself since. He has no gigs in September.

Mammút have been confirmed by the EOTR twitter account for the thursday night. They're listed on the artists pages but aren't on the day splits poster. The same looks to be true for Menace Beach but EOTR aren't confirming them. 

 

The EOTR twitter has been pretty adamant that Ezra Furman isn't playing this year.

Thanks MikeTheGoat. I had a listen to both Mammut and Menace Beach on Deezer just now and I really like them. But are they bluffing about Ezra?!!

They have reiterated several times that Ezra won't be with us this year, plus he's finished his European festivals now. They have the ability to just ignore anyone asking whether he's playing and to actively say "no" is pretty clear to me.

Just did a VERY QUICK search for London gigs in and around the time. The only possibility I could see from that search was Bo Ningen. 

 

But in the past it's been competition winners, so there's a good chance that Mammut will "headline", with Menace Beach below them and we won't have heard of the other two.

EOTR have just confirmed on Twitter that Mammut are on at 19.30, so maybe they're the other way around or we have someone "bigger" as the headliner.

ah I thought Mammut was 6pm so that's handy, wonder who is on first.

There are definitely 4 bands/artists as well.

 

Last year the timings were

 

18:15-19:00

19:30-20:15

20:45-21:30

22:00-23:00

 

So on that basis, there'll be two on after Mammut.

As a newbie how hard will it be to get into the Big Tipi as it's the only active stage? Want to catch some bands but will probably want to wander around between bands at some stage lol (or pop out for a cheeky cigarette)

Meh. Best Thursday night 'headliner' was Futureheads in 2012.

Yeah, can't get excited by that.  We've been spoilt with Lanegan, Allo Darlin, Ezra and The Futureheads in the past. You never know though. A few beers down the line and it might be alright.

I saw Palma Violets on the NME tour earlier in the year and was struck by how they had something Clash-like about them, in the interplay between lead singer and guitarist, maybe also the style of backing vocals. Clash-light perhaps, but I'm pretty sure they'll entertain.

Bit underwhelmed by PV when I saw them last. Their light is not shining quite as bright as a couple of years ago. Still hope for the fourth band.
