Bennicassim 2016

The mercado is basically a tesco which sells all sorts so I'm assuming it will have a gluten free range. Infact it does. Girl I camped with last year was the same she learned the Spanish for no gluten and most places accommodated her.

Regarding flights. If you are taking a bag for the cargo hold it will be fine to take it on. If it's just a cabin bag. No chance of getting stuff through security like the tent or that.

there is a few shops selling tents and stuff but I think they are a touch over priced but I could be wrong.

Hope that helps

Alright!

Thanks for the information, that's great! I did google the translation and I did find a good little 'card' to take with me to restaurants that should help out.

In regards to the tent, yeah I have 22kg of hold luggage so I was thinking about taking my tent inside the bag, then sleeping bag strapped to the front of it, just wanted to know if the airline could refuse to take it.

Should be fine. I'm flying Ryanair with 15kg and taking a tent that weighs 9kg so using the spare space for the mattress and other random things like a mallet and torches plenty of torches lol. Also don't think you will need a sleeping bag unless you like to sweat ALOT. Lowest it drops to is like 22c at night I took a loose sheet to use as a cover/blanket when trying to sleep after the partying.

I am sure they sell gluten free stuff in the Mercadona supermarkets (just look for 'SIN GLUTEN'. also, it'd be great if you could get a doctor note or something similar so you can get some food inside the festival if you want to - not sure about the gluten free options inside!!

Alright everyone,

Wonder if you can offer me some advice, i'm traveling from East Midlands Airport to Alicanté on the Monday with 2 friends, then we've booked a coach transfer with BeniFest. Is it easy to buy a camping equipment over there (i.e Tent, Airbed, Sleeping Bag) and if so, does anyone know rough prices?

Can't find any information about the restrictions with taking those on the plane (flying with Jet2) as it'll all have to fit in my rucksack.

The other problem I have is that i'm Celiac, do they serve a variety of foods at the site? I've gone through the 19 pages and saw that there are some cheap shops in the town so if anything I can grab something in there most of the time - My main concern is trying to avoid anything that could have gluten in else i'll be spending the entire week in agony.

I can't wait to get mesen hungover for 7 days on the trot!

Hi there,

You can buy everything on site but it is quite expensive. About 30 euros for an air bed, 40+ for a tent for a standard 2 man tent. You won't need a sleeping bag, it's too hot.

Last year we flew to Madrid and bought 4 man tents in a shopping centre there for 29 euros. If you have time when arriving in Alicante maybe try and find a camping shop, if not, take a walk down Benicassim town, all the shops there sell things like that. Cheaper the further away from the beach you are.

You can take a tent on plane but some airlines sometimes get funny about tent pegs (not that you can get them in the ground anyway, it's rock solid) and mallets.

Pretty sure Mercado in Benicassim town centre does gluten free stuff.

updated clashfinder

think its just guesswork considering there is no times out yet. would be happy enough with that no major clashes only Kendrick and The 1975, although i can see why they are clashing

This is defo a bit wrong. Young Fathers are on South Beach not sharing with Massive Attack

Can't see Bloc Party clashing with Muse directly, I imagine they will finish around the time Muse start, maybe a little overlap (like Mark Ronson before Blur last year)

Generally seems like it might be roughly right but few gaps inbetween bands are too big

A tent is fine as carry on luggage as long as 1) it is within the size/weight restrictions (I imagine most small/cheap ones will be) and 2) you've put the tent pegs in your hold luggage as they're banned.

I did think that it wouldnt be a problem aslong as I put pegs/mallet in hold luggage. I've got a double airbed thats quite heavy, I can fit in in my hand luggage but i'm going to presume that won't be a problem taking it on right?

I'd take one of those mats instead but I don't find them comfortable at all.

I've emailed the festival directly via there website and they've told me to take a doctors note, then i'll be able to take any food/drink into the arena with the exception of alcohol.

I'm sure i'll find plenty of foods to eat whether hot or cold. Thanks for the advice all, see you there!

Young Fathers are currently part of the Massive Attack live set, hence why both listed on main stage.  If you look at South Beach line-up for that night, Young Fathers are on the Clashfinder, playing earlier in the evening.  It's quite likely that Muse & Bloc Party will clash, which is the biggest clash of the whole festival for me.  Always the sign of a good festival with a decent line up though, when you have clashes.  The gaps in between the bands are normal, other than the lead up to Muse, but their stage sets are supposed to be impressive, so I can imagine they will need over an hour to set things up.

Yeah can't see an airbed being a problem. (Obviously best to double check all of this with your airline, but it should all be the same standard rules)

The Massive Attack + Young Fathers gigs are advertised as that. Beni isn't, which makes me think they'll only do Voodoo in My Blood and nothing more.

I would hope that Muse and Bloc Party don't clash as the latter aren't at Glastonbury and I'm missing Muse there to see them at FIB. I still think it will be Bloc Party 12am-1am, and then Muse 1am-2.45am or something like that.

Think Young Fathers will only join them for one song - they're not billed together on the line-up for a reason (Massive Attack are separate special guests, probably to differentiate from the joint set) and Young Fathers were specificaly announced for South Beach in the last announcement

After a little advice - does anyone know what the Buses from hotels in Castellon to the festival are like? Is it worth paying the €50 for a pass, or are we better of getting trains/taxis? I don't want to pay for the buses if we're not going to be able to get them due to them being too busy... Not long now!!

€50 for 4 X return journeys would be money well spent IF you could find out if the services back to Castellon from the festival, are reliable and with spaces. I met a few people last year who were staying in C, and were saying how good a service it was to get to FIB early evening, when it all starts, but no too sure what their experience was like getting back to C.  I can't imagine that if you have bought a 4day/€50 pass, that there wouldn't be enough buses to take you back to C during the early hours. What does the official website say, about frequency?

What's the water situation at FIB, anyone?

ie What size bottle can you bring in? (if any)

Is there free tapwater inside the concert venue?

How much does it cost to buy a bottle?

There's one drinking water tap on the main grassy bit inside the arena.

It's one token (3 euros) for a litre bottle of water but well worth it as they are absolutely freezing.

Youll be able to take an empty bottle in, or a sealed bottle of water. You won't be able to take it in if you've opened it and it's not empty.

Quick question. Does Beni town itself have a Internet cafe as I'm flying with Ryanair and will need to print off my boarding pass on the Saturday of the festival. I can't use the app since my phone screen is in a million pieces lol

Yes some of the restaurants/ cafes have computers in.

Hi all, first time going to benicassim so I have a few questions (sorry if they've already been answered, tried to look through the last few pages to check):

1. Me and some mates are staying in Oropesa Del Mar as it was the cheapest place to get a hotel. Anyone know how viable getting the bus is to Benicassim, or is it worth just sticking to taxis (there are 4 of us)?

2. As we're staying in the next town over and aren't driving, does anyone have rough prices for food, alcohol and non-alcoholic drinks inside the arena? Trying to balance drinking habits with being able to actually find our way to the festival, so just wondering whether we're better off just getting suitably ruined at our apartment and hoping for the best.

3. Any supermarkets in the area that anyone would recommend? A quick google says there's a mercadona closest to us, just wondering if that's the best option.

Thanks in advance!

I've read mixed reviews about official shuttles from FIB to Castellon, so I was thinking about taking a tent and pitching it on the Thursday when we arrive and using that to kip in (just incase we can't get a bus back to Castellon, I saw someone on Facebook couldn't get back to their hotel until 9 in the morning and they tried leaving at 5!!). So going to pitch a tent and use that to get a couiple hours sleep and head back to the hotel early morning. There's no way I can camp in the Spanish heat for the whole week.

Does everyone think this is a good idea? Some days it might not even be used.. Do you think anything will happen to the tent if people see that no-ones there?

Hey,

the queues to get taxis can get a bit long, with people apparently waiting for a few hours. I think there's some kind of shuttle bus from oropesa to the festival, but no idea how reliable it is (I always stay in Benicassim)

food - around 6 euros (give or take) can get you a portion of noodles or a baguette, if I remember correctly

drinks - 3 euros (1 token) for small beer (1/2 pint) and soft drinks. 9 euros (3 tokens) for 1 litre of beer or spirits (spanish measures...). you can get cans of beer for 1 euro outside the festival and then get back in - lots of people do that.

hope that helps

Hi all, coming to Benicassim with a few mates from the UK and 4 people have pulled out because of financial reasons  (aka let everyone down).

This has left us with two twin rooms free in Hotel Jardin de bellver (Friday and saturday night) which I am looking to sell on.

Where is the best place to market the rooms?? Is there a ticket/ accommodation swap site that's decent?

Appreciate any help you veterans can give!!! :)
