zero000
never given New Order much of a listen apart from the singles that everybody knows, but that new song is fantastic (after having a pretty big 'meh' feeling towards the last one). will have to give their back catalogue a bit more time Give substance a go, it's a perfect introduction to them. eastynh
Another new track off the album was played this morning on the radio and it sounds another stonker. It is @ 39 mins in http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b06bb9n5 Also if anyone is interested in the absolute mayhem that seems to exist around New Order then Hooky has upped another entry to his blog. It is quite damning on the others really and for the first time in the whole saga, I do feel a little sorry for him. http://www.peterhook.co.uk/#/blogs/hookys-blog

It's such a shame it has gotten to where it has. As I mentioned before New Order without Hooky is not New Order in my book. Unfortunately they're now of an age that time won't be able to heal the rift so I fear we will never see them performing as NO together, sadly. MoilyX
Also, lolz at 'New Odour'! Perhaps 'the others' should tour as that?

Homer
I read a really interesting piece about New Order reforming in The Guardian, funnily enough on the bus on the way to Bestival to see them. It basically said 'the mistake Peter Hook made was thinking the band couldn't survive without him. But this was a band that survived its lead singer hanging himself.' What basically happened was that Hooky decided to announce that the band was splitting live on the radio without consulting the others (this is from Bernard's book). The band was then pretty much dead in the water. But what then happened (from the Guardian article) was that Gillian's dad died, coinciding with it being a time when her (and Stephen's) kids had grown up, so she decided to come back in. So my summary is: Hooky decides to stitch everyone up by walking - but is left with egg on his face when Gillian comes back. Basically, he thought they needed him more than he needed them; but that was subsequently blown out of the water leaving him looking stupid. It's like a relationship where one half dumps the other, and is then bitter when the other half turns around and says 'go on, f@ck off then'. fatyeti24
I once met Hooky, back in the 90s, sat drinking at the bar in Dry. Apparently he was there quite often. I think this is probably my most Manchester anecdote, even more so than when I met Mani and Rowetta separately on the same night, also back in the 90s. eastynh
Well the album seems to be out in the open now and by all accounts it is very good. Of the 5 songs I have heard, 4 of them are top while restless is a bit meh. Here are another 2 if people are interested Unlearn This Hatred is 02:40:00 in on the Lauren Laverne show http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b06bb9n9 Superheated featuring Brandon Flowers. Bubblegum electro pop and this should have been the 1st single in my eyes. Really radio friendly. http://monterreyrock.com/2015/09/new-order-superheated-feat-brandon-flowers/

dentalplan
I can't imagine he'd be really chasing up a few quid off a guy who co-wrote all the songs he's playing. Edit: Actually yes I could. Edited September 25, 2015 by dentalplan
the wonderwhy
I imagine its Hooky's attempt at a bit of 'friendly banter', yeah. But its the sort of snarky comment that doesn't really help the situation
bamber
2005 was my favourite year, for many, many reasons, Welsh Grand Slam, English Ashes, Barbados , love of my life, and.......
