Hot Chip / Radiohead clash would be the worst atm

I think the best outcome we could hope for would be radiohead on at half 12, and hot chip getting that 2.45am slot. The most realistic however is probably radiohead at half 12 and hot chip at 1am. If thats the case the surge for the last bit of hot chips performance from main stage fans will be mental!

Hot Chip all the way for me.

I prefer hot chip myself, but the lure of seeing Radiohead for the first (and possibly last) time has got me in a pickle.

They're not the most crowd pleasing band at times. I anticipate a lot of the new album to be played. I think I'd get bored after a bit. Hot Chip do a great festival set from start to finish.

not sure what to do about flights for this festival, we booked our ticket and camping last week when radiohead were announced. This line up is seriously too good to be true! but back to flight they increased twice in the same day, but I'm right in the middle of my exam period with a tough one coming up tomorrow and don't really fancy sorting flights out today. Anyone think the prices will rocket or will they come back down at some point?

Cheers!

I'd be booking them ASAP. I dithered last year for Pukkelpop and what were originally 36 quid flights were over 300 quid nearer the festival forcing me to miss it.

A lot depends on the quality of their new album really.

Based on their last tour, I'd anticipate something like this:

6-7 new album tracks

4-5 In Rainbows/King of Limbs (Reckoner, Arpeggi, Nude and probably Lotus Flower will be the most common)

5-6 Kid A-HTTT staples (Idioteque, Everything In It's Right Place, There There, Pyramid Song, etc, also the band have a strange liking to The Gloaming)

3-4 OK Computer/Bends tracks thrown in (Most common are Paranoid Android, Karma Police, Lucky and Airbag. Street Spirit, Exit Music are rarer).

Major songs that have very little chance of appearing: Creep, High and Dry, Just, My Iron Lung, The Bends, Fake Plastic Trees. None of those were played even once during the last tour.

So really, they put on a great show if you love their later stuff too, but don't expect an OK Computer/The Bends heavy set because it just won't happen.

Heading over from england, can anyone comment on the lisboa camping? What's it like for safety/cleanliness/getting around/general atmosphere? Any tips would be appreciated greatly!

It's a very relaxing camp site. Bungalows are suggested for more comfort (they cost a silly cheap amount). You can get them around €90 per bungalow per night (for a 5 person bungalow).

The only drawback is that the campsite is far away, and you'd have to travel back to the campsite by bus (free). However, after a big act there'll be a never ending queue for taxis and buses. Still, I'd recommend the campsite.

how's the festival ground itself? I mostly go to festivals that are either a bit smaller or have a lot more stages. Is it possible to relax somewhere or is it just a big stream of people all the time everywhere? since there are only two stages.

Its a fairly small site compared to the big festivals like Leeds/Reading ect. There's a large seating area between Clubbing tent and Heineken Stage to relax, or round the back of the Heineken stage is usually pretty quiet and has some fusball tables if you want to get away from the crowds for a bit.

thanks for your reply, sounds good! will definitely be going then. arcade fire and radiohead on the same festival, wow.

my mate's saying there'll be a third headliner for the first day, but the chemical brothers / pixies are headlining that day I suppose? it would be complete madness if there's a third headliner, especially if you look at the prices.

And are they gonna announce another (sub)headliner for the third day?

Yeah Pixies & Chemical Brothers are co-headlining. Still 20 odd acts to announce over the 2 main stages as well as all the clubbing stage acts tba. Chems, radiohead & arcade fire alone well worth the ticket price!
