Day Ticket & Sleeping In Car?

Ok so I've been to reading in the past for the whole weekend but this year we only want to go on one day and hopefully have a kip in the car before leaving in the morning. Is this allowed? I want to be able to have a wee drink during the day and then drive home the following day, rather than not be able to drink and drive home that night. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Officially you're not supposed to and they'll wake you up if they see you (they had people doing it a few years ago and cars were set on fire with a BBQ).

Unofficially, they won't really give a crap. If they do disturb you just explain that you felt too tired to drive and will leave in the morning. Chance they'll even notice are slim-to-none though.

There are also some roads in and around Reading close by the festival you can park for free too rather than parking in the official car parks, which would help get around that potential probelm (I live down the road from the site)

That's what I though. I figured if they did knock on my window I would just say it's safer for me to have a kip than drive home. I drove home tired from Reading once and ended up lost in Heathrow, I was absolutely terrified.

I wasn't sure whether they would be secure to sleep in or have spaces. Really don't want to sleep in a car park but don't want to fork out extortionate prices for a hotel either. Luckily I have a big enough car.

I slept over night in my car when I went for the day in 2012 to see the mighty At the Drive In, didn't have any problems! Perhaps best to park amongst over cars though if you can, rather than on the end of a row, in case a steward does decide to give you problems.

Yeah I think we're just going to go for it. They won't exactly tell me to move along if I say I'm too tired to drive. It's just dangerous.

Me and my mate slept in the back of my van in the car park at V fest one year without any issues as we'd missed out on camping tickets.

Yeah I've got a big 4x4 and with the rear seats down it's pretty big and with blacked out windows we shouldn't be seen, especially at night. Actually quite looking forward to having a kip in the car with duvets and pillows instead of facing the reading camp sites haha
