Hi all , does any one know what the drop and collect point shuttle bus like, we missed the coach tickets this year so are getting a taxi in, Wednesday morning , should arrive about5am, we don't want to have the driver queuing so thought the drop and collect point a good option, question is , will it be busy, how many busses are running, etc

thanks guys

The shuttle bus runs from the Bath & West Showground, there won't really be a queue for vehicles to get in to the showground, but have to say expect long queues to get on the buses.

I've been using the shuttle bus for several years now and it's progressively got busier and busier, last year was the worst; arrived at 6am, got on a bus about 8:30am, then add on top of that the queue at Gate A.

Previously it's been really good and generally used by locals to get on site, but I think there has been changes to what coaches can get to Gate A plus 3rd party firms are putting on unofficial coaches, which all drop off at the showground.

We're seriously considering driving next year as we're now having to queue for a long time, twice - and I only live 10 miles from the festival!

No worries Stevie, yeah, the showground is near Evercreech, but not in the village.  The showground is just off the A371:

In terms of gate A queuing, it does vary, it's not horrendous by any stretch, I think we queued for about 30-40 mins after getting off the coach at gate A.  But this was after a very long queue at the showground, so it felt like ages ;).

I think I read that non locally registered taxis now have to drop off at the showground, so I expect there will be a few more people using the shuttle bus this year.  Really they need to put on more shuttle buses for that Wed AM rush to help move people quicker.

Is it same for pick ups, for taxis?? Show ground? Or can taxi get to coach park?

I mentioned this in another thread but don't know if it's true. I read the debrief reports to local authorities scrutiny committee, last year they hi-lighted issues with the on site taxi rank causing congestion on the A361. The report made the recommendation that only taxis licenced by Mendip Dist. Council should be alowed to use this facility and that all other taxied would be directed to the show ground. I don't know if the festival has acted on this recommendation or not so would suggest if you are likely to be affect you should check with the taxi firm or the festival office.
