How do I clear the quotes from a reply & start afresh?

Hi

I'm creating a reply but got the quotes in the wrong order. I want to start again, but whatever I seem to do it remembers the previous quotes.

I notice that on random occasions a 'clear reply' appears in the tool bar. Is there a way to get to appear permanently?

if you're getting the tablet or mobile layout there should be a 'new page' button at the furthest right - it looks a bit like a sheet of paper - and clicking on that will clear the edit box.

In the desktop layout it should be easy enough to do with a mouse.
