Scored 6 Prem penalties (for Villa and Blackburn, none with United)

My thinking is it's probably a striker who played for a club who had a designated pen taker. So...Zola maybe? Bit of a guess though!

Anyway on to the weekend:

Chelsea v Arsenal

Crystal Palace v Sunderland

Everton v Bournemouth

Hull City v Liverpool

Southampton v West Ham United

Watford v Burnley

West Bromwich Albion v Stoke City

Tottenham Hotspur v Middlesbrough

Sunday

Manchester City v Swansea City

Leicester City v Manchester United

My treble of Arsenal, Spurs and Burnley didn't really work out on Tues. Where shall I put my money this weekend?

Some good looking games at the bottom, with Palace/Sunderland look particularly tasty. Boro, Leicester and Swansea all know they are well in the scrap now, but 3 points for either would put some daylight between them and the rest. Can't see any of them picking up points though really.

I see him more as a player that was never truly confortable in front of goal so never wanted to take a penalty. Which is crazy to say considering he scored 110 prem goals. (I would like to say though that at certain/short spells in his career he was almost unplayable)

I'd be tempted by a draw triple this week. The Everton, Southampton and West Brom games.

Can't see many away wins this weekend.

We're only 4 points clear of 3rd place and we tend to lack ways to unlock teams when Shelvey/Ritchie are out.

Benitez supposedly got demands regarding his degree of control in writing before signing his contract last summer, so if Ashley reneges on that (again), Benitez will have a strong case for constructive dismissal, and we could well be fucked.

What manager is going to want to join a club where the fans loved the previous, the owner has a repeated record of never backing managers, and a transfer policy that ignores where the gaps in the squad are and focuses on player marketability and resale value completely?

Rafa said at the start of the window he wanted one player brought in to provide another creative option. Considering a profit of £30m was made in the summer I think he should feel entitled to push one buy through.

And lets be honest, Newcastle are never going to be able to attract a better manager than Benitez. You should be doing your utmost to keep him sweet in my opinion, not giving him a reason to want to leave. Theres plenty of Prem clubs that would have him in a heartbeat.

If he leaves because a broken contract by Ashley, it won't be attracting a better manager that's the challenge, it'll be attracting anyone. The only ones who'd give it a go would be from substantially further down the chain who don't believe they can get a job at a stable (in terms of owner judgement) Prem club. Look at our recent hires before Benitez, Pardew - after being sacked by Southampton in League 1, McClaren - after being sacked by Derby, Kinnear - had barely had a job in the game in years. What manager worth his salt is going to gamble their career on Newcastle and Ashley?

Rafa did it because he got a no-lose contract to try and keep us up, and then appreciated the fans' love for him and bargained for full control over footballing matters. If he hasn't got the latter and does walk - and it'd be completely within his right to do so, I fully expect he'd win the case for constructive dismissal - the club is fucked.

The club has been in an utter mess since Shepherd sacked Sir Bobby. We had the one good season under Pardew, the promotion campaign under Hughton, and the current optimism with Rafa. It could so easily fall apart if he goes.

The bottoms looking very interesting now. Leicester to put the reserves out in the champions league? Still in two cup competitions into the run in.

3 from 6 at the bottom? 3 from 6 to partner Chelsea in the top 4?

Liverpool just being Liverpool really.

Everyone knew Palace weren't suddenly going to fly up the table under Fat Sam, but isn't the point of the hoofball merchant to stop results like that against the teams around them? Huge confidence blow.
