Huge results this weekend. Chelsea the big winners. Good week for City and Utd too. Liverpool and Arsenal both out of the title race officially now.

Liverpools season over already. Some LFC turning on Klopp. "The German Pardew"

And Big Sam is fooked.

I watched it on Eurosport. Decent game. Pitch was shocking.

Winner was a peach though.

The only ones still in the title race with chelsea just about is Spurs, but i doubt that they will overhaul Chelsea.

It does annoy me when fans turn on a manager like they have with Klopp after a bad run. See what happens for the end of the season.

Look at Chelsea and Conte for example. Terrible first month of the season turned around. And Koeman, after losing to Watford in Dec, theyve turned it around.

Conte adapted didn't he? Klopp can't adapt by the looks of it.

I think it's too early to say that Klopp can't adapt. He might not be able to, but he deserves more time. He's got a thinner squad than any other team in the top half*

*Just realised Watford reached 10th over the weekend. Probably equivalent there but the point is still apt.

He has done at Dortmund. Not bringing any players in when LFC were going for the league was utter insanity though. 4 weeks later, out of the FA Cup, out of the piss pot, now in the race for just top 4. A complete collapse.

Only game they've won in the last 10 is vs Plymouth. And that was at the 2nd attempt. Some nasty fixtures coming up. Next 6 - Spurs, Leicester, Arsenal, Burnley, City, Everton.

Well at least they'll get some points.

Seriously though, that's a tricky little run. The 'race for for the top 4' (kill me now) could be most interesting aspect of this season. We're all trying our best to balls it up.

And people say that you are quite a way from the pitch at West Ham these days. Someone would have to put some serious effort in to get booked for going in to the crowd.

Ps. I'll take Klopp at Arsenal if Liverpool don't want him. We already can't defend so he can't make that any worse.

Maybe in a few years. Wenger has his contract extension to sign first!

I genuinely believe this is his last season now. They never leave it this late and to give an extension now would be suicide. The Wenger outers currently aren't as vitriol as they have been despite our failings purely because they are seeing this as the end. I've always been someone who respects Wenger immensely and hope he is always treated properly, what he has done for the club is unrivalled but it is time to finish now. Just a shame it's going to be fittingly fighting for 4th.

I'm thinking you may be right. If I remember rightly as well, at least one of Ozil/Sanchez said the reason they hadn't signed yet was uncertainty about Wenger.

I suspect that if he were going to sign, it'd have been done already to secure the players' sigs as well. I can't think who'd be a likely replacement though.

You almost got it, tho of course they were never in it. :D

Liverpool were top of the league at one stage, and 2nd at XMas. Arsenal were 3 points behind Chelsea before their annual December fall away.

Couple of big games top and bottom at the weekend. LFC/Spurs and especially Swansea vs Leicester. Proper 6 pointer.

Leicester are doomed now, i think. Too many teams down there which are suddenly on an up.

Aha should've assumed it was a pop at Utd!

And they've the FA Cup and the CL to juggle this month too.

It's going to be really interesting what's happens at arsenal when wenger goes.

Only manager in recent history(at the top level) to have such longevity is fergie, we all know what happened there....

I think unless they significantly increase spending 5th place will be more likely than 1st under a new manager.

So, turns out so far that Silva was a great choice for Hull.

He is only at a 6 month contract at the moment. Wouldnt surprise me if another club came calling for next season

I agree, it's a big upgrade on Phelan who looked like he had given up weeks ago. I think he will enhance his reputation even if they go down.

That looks like it's going to be incredibly interesting. Putting all this to one side - I feel for Lovren. He is so often used as a scapegoat. He has made some errors but he has also had many games where he has looked really solid, especially when alongside Matip.

Really can't call the bottom 3 any more. It looked like Swansea, Hull and Sunderland were doomed at one stage however thanks to Liverpool giving up 7/9 points to the 3 of them as well as some other good results they all seem to have gained some momentum.

Leicester look in serious trouble.

I was under the impression the hold up was Wenger not having made a decision, not the club?

As ever with Arsenal it's all very hush-hush, but the rumours are that a contract is ready for him to sign (if he hasn't already). You have to remember that the owner is a businessman, who runs all his teams to make a profit. As long as Wenger keeps getting in the CL he'll keep making a profit. The owner doesn't give a shit if we win the league or not.

Even if it is time for Wenger to go, it's not as easy as that. Nobody in the club has any experience of hiring a new manager, nor do they have any experience beyond the boardroom when it comes to running a football club. How would they even go about drawing up a list of candidates? Who within the club knows enough about the game, on a world scale, to make those decisions? Nobody. This is a bigger concern, to me at least, than who is manager.
