mikeyh1402
Hi All Will be travelling from East London earlyish (630-7) Thursday morning...would you seasoned pro's advocate travelling through London or taking a chance on the A406? Also (sorry for being a pain!) We're staying in Worthy View - looking at google maps it looks like you can either stay on the A303 or go onto the A36/A361 - any advice, or generally once close all pretty much the same? Thanks, getting very excited now!!
Becks12
Where in East London? If its near the river then I'd go through the Blackwall tunnel and get on the A2 then M25. I wouldn't drive through town you could avoid it. You could go north on the M11 then round the M25 anticlockwise too. Am also in Worthy View but never driven there so can't help further! mikeyh1402
Thanks! Going from Dalston, am thinking up though Stoke Newington/Enfield to the M25 has to be quicker/less sitting in stationary traffic at that time or maybe to A406 round to the M4 another option...saves congestion charge too I guess! jimmillen
Can't advise on the London end, try not to drive there if at all possible But for the festival end of the trip, in 2013 we went down the A303 to Podimore then up the A37 rather than cutting across. Was perfectly OK, no particular holdups - having not tried the cut across can't say if it would be faster, but think more chance of taking a wrong turn. Getting to Worthy View was dead easy off the A37. Edited June 15, 2016 by jimmillen
mikeyh1402
That looks like a good shout Jim - unless the traffic snarls up, but guess that's just as likely on the cut through, stick to the main roads! Very helpful mate, many thanks!
geoffboycott
Should be fine Thurs morning on the A303. The simplest route to avoid wrong turnings would be to go down to Podimore and take the A37, but you could save yourself time if you cut across. It's actually not too bad but they are country roads and windy in places. This is the route I use regularly as I live locally, PM me if you would like some guidance as I'd rather not share it on here as the locals probably wouldn't appreciate lots of other people doing the same

Have you got the Waze app? I'd use that on the day to see which way has less traffic. Its pretty handy for London as traffic jams appear from nowhere! Edit: I work in the City and traffic round here is horrendous at 7.30am onwards as theres so many roadworks. I'd go round town if possible. But do check Waze as your leaving.
