Is it possible to meet/find friends in the queue? Help!

First timer at Glasto and I have a dilemma!

Two of us are arriving by coach at 5.30am Wednesday morning with x2 tents to put up. A couple of our friends are arriving earlier, around 3am, and will already be in a queue somewhere - probably PGD. What's the best option, as we want to meet up and camp with them at Pennard Hill.

A. stay in PGA queue and hope to find them at the camping site as they set up their tents (can people save spaces here, as we would probably arrive an hour after them or so?)

B. find them in the queues using Whatsapp Share Location and hoping it works!

Thanks in advance for any tips :)

Also if anyone has any insight into what the morning queues were like last year that would be great appreciated!

I travel down in a split group. The ones arriving first would normally take the tents of those arriving later that way we all camp together. We would normally meet up at what ever gate they are at or some landmark local to where we are camped ..... Very hard to find a tent if you say 'we are camped in Pennards'

you can try and save space but it's difficult in Pennards due to its popularity. The bonus with travelling on an official coach you get to queue skip at Gate A ..... Fast track entry for being a green travller!!

Easiest thing to do is the ones that are there first can go in and set up. Once you're set up, go back and meet your mates in the queue, take their stuff off them and walk back through re-entry and then your mates won't have to stand in a massive queue with all their things but they can simply walk through the queue as it moves forward as they wont have anything to carry.

We are usually the first ones to arrive about 3am out of our group so we take everyone's tents down and set them up. It's about 8/9 tents this year but we don't mind, I'd say it will be impossible to find them, the queue isn't like single file it can be about 20 across at times. And you might piss people off who have been there since 3am.

Split the tents. Someone take flysheets and poles and them the other group take the inners. That way the first group to reach Pennards can set up the tents and hold the space. You'd just have to watch the inners to make sure that that a pegged out but unerected inner isn't moved by anyone who decides that it isn't really doing anything (yes, it does happen!). The only downside to this is if it's raining on arrival the inners will get wet, but of course there's no chance of any rain next week. :)

Option A. There's no point you dragging yourselves from the bus station to Gate D, as that negates the entire benefit of coming by coach!

Yep. And it shouldn't be assumed that by arriving an hour later you'll get to the campsite an hour later. Those arriving by public transport get priority at Gate A so it's entirely possible, even probable, that you'll get on site before your friends.

This will almost definitely happen. My friends arrived an hour or 2 after us last year on their coach to gate A (we drove and were in the gate D queue from about 3am) and strolled in uninhibited as soon as it hit 8am. We got in about an hour later.
